Memory issue...help!

Ok, so I just got my m3200 yesterday, but I seem to be having a problem. I keep getting the "Virtual Memory too Low" bubble about every 5 min. That and the computer is slow as crap!

Now I only ordered my system with 256mb of ram (with the intention of ordering a 1gig stick from Newegg once I get paid), so the computer being slow is kinda expectable. However, when I look at the "system info" window it says I only have 240mb of ram. It also says the same thing in the BIOS menu.

Anyone have any ideas? Do I have bad ram?

Your internal graphics is using the other 16mb for graphics...on board graphics use system ram...

Oh man! I didn't even think of that. I've been using desktops with video cards my whole life, so I'm used to seeing my full memory.

Thanks Rod!

actually it depends on size of hdd, but yeah change the page file size. it utilizes some of the hdd, as virtual ram, but it really isnt that good, and is only a temp solution. get that gig stick already omfg wtf rtfm!

This may be a bit off topic, but you may want to get two 512MB sticks rather than one 1GB stick since the m3200s are Dual Channel. That way, if you have the matched set, the mobo can access both chips simultaneously.

Would having 2x512 be better than having 1x1024/1x256?

And yeah, I think I will temporarily change my pagefile.

I believe that for Dual Channel to work, you need two modules of the same size, type, and timing. Some vendors like Crucial sell "matched sets" which have been tested together. That's probably just hype though. As far as which would be "better"...I guess that's a matter of preference. As far as myself, I yanked my stock 256 out and replaced it with 2x512 (one of those Crucial matched sets).
