Hi all,
I am trying to put together an economy system for Battlefield 2. Please help with a minimum config

T2300 1.66GHZ Dual Core
17-INCH,TRUELIFE,WUXGA
512MB,DDR2,533MHZ,2 DIMM
256MB NVIDIA 7800
60GB HARD DRIVE - 5400rpm
8X DVD+/-RW DRIVE
INTEL PRO/WRLS 3945,A/G,DC,I94
53 WHR,6-CELL,LION,PRIM BATT,I
Win XP Pro

Not sure if this is cutting too many corners for BF2 or not?

Here is the breakdown

Subtotal: $1,491.00
Shipping and Handling: $24.00
Tax: $106.04
Total: $1,621.04

Thanks

I agree, BF2 is a ram hog from what I can tell.. Noticed a pretty big difference when I went from 1gig to 2 gigs on the desktop. Though I alt tab alot and this is where the biggest saving in time came from.

EDIT: Possible sqeeze a 7200rpm HD if you can... BF2 has horrible long load times, this may help somewhat...

5400 rpm drives and 7200 rpm drives the only diffrence I will se is in loading times for games??? I dont really care about loading times I just dont want the grapphics to suffer from my 100 gig 5400 rpm.

agreed...
Just up the ram to 1gig. and you are set to go.
Don't worry about HDD.

The 60 gig 5400 hitachi sata that shipped with my e1705 is PLENTY fast! Its approaching 60gb 7200 speeds, and DEFINITELY an improvement over the old toshiba 5400 ata i had in my 9300...

Outpost runs specials pretty often on Corsair DDR2 Sodimms. They are PC4200 . . but they can be had for ~50/gig after rebate.

For that price . . . I think ANY "budget" should have 2 gigs if it's concerned about performance in BF2.

Just MHO.

Yeah, Id say just get more ram, its much cheaper to buy from newegg or something instead of getting ram from dell.

thats pretty good. If u wanna save urself even more, try going for core solo. thats what i have (really low on cash).

i play all the games perfect.
