Hi all,

Just speaking to Dell about an XPS m170 and I was given the price of £1750 on the following specs and wondered if this is a great deal or just ok. Also considering the new systems just around the corner although I dont think I need a dual processor, if I have to do two things at once I can take time away from the screen while dvds are burning or whatever so thats a good thing for me plus the bugs going around id rather have a tried and tested xps (i think)

Ok heres the specs for £1750 gbp

Intel® Pentium M Processor 770 2.13 GHz
Genuine Windows XP Professional
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife
1GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz
100GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
8xCD/DVD burner(DVD+/-RW)w/dble-layer DVD+R
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7800 GTX
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
and a free 924 all in one printer
delivery included in the price

This worth doing? I'll feel ok buying this even if a replacement comes out soon if I get a great deal on the price. I might be able to talk him down a little more but not much, maybe get the ram up to 2gb for free

I just get the feelign im buying a soon to be out of date machine especially when I can get the acer 8204 for the same price

USD3000+ sounds a little high to me...

Maybe there's a premium cuz youre in jolly old England tho.

that machine would be about 3300USD new from dell. thats before ANY coupons you could find. but since you're in the UK, im not sure how that works out.

aye we do get the raw end of the stick with prices what with the sheriff of nottingham still robbing us blind for taxes it aint no fun

oh and i dont think we get coupons, just offers each day on the website plus the additional haggling on the phone, this system originally comes out at around £2160

Hi there,

Just got a quote from Dell Outlet; £1709.10 inc VAT and delivery, and it may not include the printer...

I've had the odd 5% off voucher. Wow. Hold me back.
