Dual Core 12" Mac Book Pro

Hello,

Does anyone have a time frame on when the 12" Mac Book Pro Core Duo will be out?

Thanks

not any sooner than the Yonah will hit the shelves. I bet around summer is a good bet, but i really don't know.

Um, Yonah is already on the shelves. Most Apple stores already have the iMac and are expecting the MacBook Pros in about 3 days.

Most likely never. Rumor has it the 13" Macbook is going to replace the 12" iBook, 14" iBook, and 12" Powerbook.

There are rumors going aroung that Apple will release an intel based ibook in April (30th anniversary of Apple). But it could be an intel core solo. So they might release a macbook pro (13") and an ibook or just a macbook that looks like an ibook with the same size but with only single core.

March for the low end 'book. Apple's 30th is going to be something else.

accurate but the macbook pro series will have the 13.3 with dual-core .... macbooks have only yonah single core. I'm waiting for the price of the new macbooks

anyone know the specs, or just speculation.

I think that they will have the intel core duo 1.67ghz, it's not much more than the solo, an ati x1400 probably a hyper memory edidtion. It will have 512mb ram. I hope they will get a gig as a cheap upgrade. The display will be a 13.3 inch wsxga. Price will remain at 1000 which is a sweet deal for a system with these specs. Not much of a profit margin for apple.

Thats what I think it will be, anyone else.

The display won't be a 13.3wsxga, that is a higher resolution than their current macbook pro...if they do come out with that size, it will almost certainly be a 1280x800resolution, WXGA. My guess would be a core solo processor, nvidia go7300 or ati x1300, and as has been said, either a 13.3 or 14inch widescreen, probably with a built in isight camera.
All speculation, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

if they ditch the 12" PB/MB as well as the iBook variations i'd think they would have to go w/ a dual core solution. there has always been talk of how the 12" iBook cannibalizes 12" PB sales bc they are so similar, but i don't think it would be smart to eliminate a pro-sumer item like the 12" PB. if they want clear segmentation they'll have a 13.3" widescreen iBook w/ core solo and a 13.3" WS MacBook w/ core duo. however, appleinsider noted that the price difference between solo and duo @ 1.67Ghz is ~$32, so the move to higher processors may open up a slot for a core duo iBook. hell, i could care less. both are sweet chips, so long as they don't celeron the iBook!!!

mind u they could always go w/ a core duo in both models and segment it by way of A/V specs. for example analog audio in/out for iBook while the MB gets digital and or optical. or the MB gets the iSight while the iBook doesn't. aspect ratio could be an easy divider too, 4:3 for iBook and WS for all MacBooks, but really, who knows?

I think they will abandon the small Powerbook/macbook pro. I think they will make the ibook their only 12 inch/13.3inch/14inch notebook.

look for the late fall with merom update, same for a 17inch macbook pro
