(I use the 9-cell battery, incase that make a difference)
That would help, but I still don't see why one would game while on battery unless you are a lan party player, and then I would have to ask: why the i6000? Turn Powerplay off if you want overclock on battery, but I like to have the most amount of battery time, not to mention the lower ammount of heat on your lap.

After reading your article I tried to use ati tool instead of Notebook hardware control. However when ı press the find max core it started to count from 410mhz and ı started to see yellow dots on 3d view after 412 and around 414 a pure black screen...
Then ı had to turn off my lappy manually...
However ı had tested my 459mhz core and 243 mhz memory with 3d mark 2003 with no artifacts and played doom 3 with high detail and 4x aa. After stunned by ati tool ı feel a bit scary.. Shoul ı trust this ati tool or 3d mark 2003?

ps. I use omega 3.8.221 but ı do not have powerplay setting in the advanced menu???

I tried using ATI Tools today, and it seemed to be clocking lower than what is stable. Odd isn't it. The yellow dots are what it detects as artifacts. I guess use ATI Tray Tools for now.

Are you sure there is no tab for it? It might be a bad install, or it might be that your card is being reconized as a desktop one and powerplay is being disabled. I'm gonna need some more info.

I am absolutely sure that thee is no powerplay menu. An it asked while installing if my computer is a laptop or ıgp then ı clicked yes. So it should work correctly...

And I downloaded atı tray tools from guru 3d and tried to find high mem and core. My defaults are 405/229.5 It found a artifact at 409mhz core, and found 1 artifact at 231 memory!!!!

Which card are you using? Is it a Dell or another computer?
so i ran 3DMark to get a baseline and I got a score of like 200. WTF?! Here are my specs:

Dell Latitude D610
Pentium M @ 1.86GHz
1GB Dual Channel RAM(PC2700) in a single stick
ATI x300 PCIe videocard
Win XP SP2

I know I don't have the best video card, but thats pretty bad! How did everyone else get like 2000+? I have the demo version of 3DMark, so I couldn't set the filtering and AA options. Did everyone else change these?

What settings should I change to help my performance a bit?

All specifications are n my signature. I use a gericom ego 1560 (which is actually a MSI 510c) and My card is the mobility radeon 9700 with 64MB memory..

Oh, sorry, I have sigs disabled (I have 28.8k) but I think the problem might that the card doesn't have Powerplay.
I'm checking on it right now...

Your card does have Powerplay, so now my question is did you have access to the settings before? And if you wanna test that out for yourself, unplug your notebook and see if the card clocks down.

Slightly off the topic, but my friend has a Gateway desktop with the 9700 (I think) and ATI Tray Tools was only able to clock it up to about 10-15 mhz higher on core and mem. It may just be that the card has some weird thing that cuases artifacts in artifact scanners.

I hae never been to able access to the powerploy menu both in official drivers or omega drivers. I can only enable or disable it from the notebook hardware control or catalyst control center but jusy to enable or disable it. have never been able to see advanced settings of ati powerplay...
I have also unpluged my laptop but the cloks do not change??

Your card probaly has a dated version of Powerplay built into it, which probaly doesn't allow changes like the ones I stated. If you never had it, then I don't think you have to worry about it to much.

I think you are right about the powerplay. Thank u for interest man. But I still do not know how much should I overclock my card...

Well if you can overclock it higher with another porgram and have it run stably, then use that program. Some programs just don't seem to overclock correctly on cards. Give RadLinker a try, as it was one of my favorite programs to use, and works like a charm.

I still use the notebook hardware control to oc my graphics and 473 core, 243 memory is my highest frequencies without problems. I have played LOTR battle for middle earth and doom 3 without having any artifacts also tested with 3d mark 2003. I am planning not to go further...

Well as long as your happy! Sometimes overclocking programs just don't work right, and I guess this is one of those types of situations.
I would have put some type of encouraging goodbye type saying here, like happy gaming, but it sounds really cheesy.

Um...and why do you say this??

Does anyone know what the safe temperatures are for the x300 video card, the hard drive, and the cpu? In other words, what I should not exceed and stay away from?
why is that question here?

second, safe temps are lower the better, but usually vid card should (can exceed a little) be 85 deg C or lower, hdd seriously should be 55 deg C or lower but yeah, cpu is rated for 100 deg C.
