Shouldn't it be called MacIntel, closer resembling "Macintosh", rather than just MacTel? Sounds kinda awkward to say.

You can call it any way you like it. Last time I check "mactel" is not an official name. Its just a word most people use to describe intel based mac. So you can even call it "intel macintosh", "MacintoshIntel", "TelMac", etc...

mactel just rolls of the tongue better, like Powerbook, rather than MacBook Pro.

The ironic part is that there was a company called Mactel during the little clone expiriment.
