[quote=TheAaarrrggg]I've had my 7700 for a yr now and it has always had a problem with overheating.
Its been in to be fixed 3 times, and everytime it returns looking as good as new but still with the same problem.
To date it has had new...
- gfx card (to try and prevent the overheating)
- motherboard x 2 (once to help with overheating and the second time a week later because the new one kept making weird noises and refused to start windows)
- CD drive (as the first one was fried from the heat)
- Chassi x 2 (because the heat is makes it easier to mark and rough up)
I downloaded GetThermal as recommended on this forum and the findings are horrible... even while writing this, just a normal Windows activity, the video card is R: 87C L:79. The other temps seem fine, CPU 53C System 46C but the gfx card is just crazy.
Playing games it gets even more rediculous. World of Warcraft is not terribly graphically challanging compared to some, still my "Gaming Laptop" clocks in at 110C and then turns itself off!! (While I was running in an aggro area I hassen to add)
Graphically its perfect, no choppy effects, just the heat.
I've tried everything from turning the fans on full blast perminantly to buying a cooling pad, but to no avail, I'm beginning to assosiate the smell of burning circuit boards with playing games!
Please can anyone help me?! How do I make them fix my machine, everytime I say its not working right they just tell me "Well it passed all of its benchmarks." What I can't understand is why they don't want to fix it, it must be costing them a fortune to keep replacing everything every few months plus the courier service to Ireland and back.
Has anyone else had this problem? Can 7700s just not play games for more than half an hr? What should I say on the phone? Has any new hardware come out in the last year that I should demand to be installed so that my computer will work?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thankyou very much and I apoligise for my ranting, I'm a nice person really, just at the end of my rope.
I can't offer anything other than I understand, been there, and done that... Similar experiences, 5 trips to the shop keyboard, video card, power supply, mother board, and video card... all this in only 6 months. AW has had the thing as much as I have... It's a pile of Aliensh__! Apple, or Dell would get their issues fixed. Customer service with AW is at best entertaining if you are into frustration. Just hope we can warn the rest of the world not to believe the BS advertising. It just fact.
