Ubuntu free CDs?

Hi, has anybody tried Ubuntu free CDs from this link? I wonder if it is really totally free or their are hidden costs( sorry to say).

they are totally 100% free. you say how many you need, give em your address and you got em a week or so later. no charge for shipping, and they DONT sell your address to advertisers for profits. go ahead, order!

Yup, they're free. They take a little while to arrive (mine were postmarked from France), but they're quite clean looking and very professional.

If you decide to get some, do yourself a favor and get them in a pack of 10 or so (they come in triplicate; each single "set" has one live CD and one install CD for x86's, for Macs and for AMD64s). Grab 10 "sets" or so.

I only suggest that because I've already given away my Mac and AMD64 versions, and I wish I would've kept them for myself!

i got a 5 pack about 8 to 10 months back and they are all gone except for one well worth it though. took mine about 10 weeks to get here.

Thank all. I just ordered one CD for PC( hoping they will send both install and live one). I have no Mac or 64 bit PC. Initially I just wnt to try,if good I can order more. I don,t find any of my friends interesred, so I don,t want to waste them to order in big amount. I would have preferred to download but I have dial up ony.

It,s really pleasant to see anything on the internet really free in the hard form,even the shipping cost is not there, I am so surprised.

I want to ask, can I make copies from them, is it possible and legal?

Well, they prefer that you order it in a big amount to save on shipping. It is legal and possible to make copies of the disc. AFAIK, Linux is open source, and since they're giving you the CDs for free anyways.. Oh yeah, on their site, they said that they WANT you to redistribute it, so

It's all under the GPL license, so if you've got a copy you can modify and distribute it however you like aslong as you don't change the license and give the source code if you modify it aswell.
They don't however have to give it away free of charge, it's amazing that they actually are
So in my oppinion if you find some use for those cd's then please donate to any opensource project(doesn't have to be ubuntu)

Definitely. In my experience, most people are quite excited about trying it out, and so far I've converted my mom, my brother and one guy at work into Ubuntu fans.

Handing out a professionally pressed CD is impressive too. It's nice to burn one for free after downloading for a half-hour or so, but some people just need to see that packaging.

Either way, I'm considering ordering some more CDs, just so I'll have spares to give away. ...

Mine took less, but again, I ordered singles. No doubt the size of the box delays the shipping.

Oh yea!
The speed and responsiveness of this system is amazing
Just make sure you get a SMP aware linux kernel so you actually use both processors!
If you havn't seen this before, take a look at these benchmarks.
