I have settled on the 9750 but this is the last issue I have. I will be using it for work and gaming.

If you are going to get that beast of a notebook deffinitely get the 1920x1200 display.
What other specs are you getting?

i just ordered 9750 . i have a dell xps gen2 with 1920x1200 and to be honest it hurts my eyes after a few hours reading on line and i have to read 6 inches from the screen . Also games look a lot better a native rez . halo only goes up to 1600x1200 and my gen2 does not play as good at that rez as it does at 1440x900. I know a fx60 processor with a 7800gtx will be faster but I like as many frames as possible . So i ordered wsxga

If your eyes aren't bad then the wuxga is probably better. This machine is powerful enough to play most games (that support wide screen) at 1920x1200. Problem with wsxga is that it can't play 1600x1200, so you're essentially limited to 1280x1024 streached. Even with the bars, 1600x1200 looks great ona wuxga screen.

wuxga will, but it creates bars on the sides (unless you choose to streach the image). wsxga is 1680x1050 so it can't satisfy the 1200 height of 1600x1200. Therefore it cannot run at that resolution.

Bars what bars my xps gen2 does not have any bars when i play at 1600x1200 . Wait a second. If i can have it play with the bars then it would probably look sharper because it wouldn’t be stretched? Haw do I get it un stretched ?

Play most games yes. But if you look at reviews on new games you see some games even on the most powerful desktops can’t play above 1024x768 or around there. Like serious sam 2 . Look http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/...ii/page12.html ---17--- frames with sli 7800gtx and a fx57 @ 1600x1200

edit oh well

There's a setting in the nvidia drivers that lets you either run every game at your screen's native resolution (if the game max res is inder 1920x1200 it will create black bars to fill in the unused space) or you can set the drivers to streach to fill the screen, changing the aspect ratio.

try looking at the configurations and see if the getting the WS is not cost prohibitive. In order to get a 5720 with the "V" options and the WS screen is was a couple hundred more. Just did not make sense to me.

I can run COD2 at 1920x1200 (need to overclock a little), CivIV runs perfectly at 1920x1200, Galactic Civilizations runs perfectly at 1920x1200, Tropico2 runs perfectly at 1600x1200, Battlefield 2 runs perfectly at 1600x1200, Pirates! runs perfectly at 1600x1200, Counterstrike Source runs perfectly at 1920x1200. Halflife 2 runs like crap at anything higher than 1280x1024- I hate this game anyway. Far Cry can only go up to 1280x1024 (I haven't investigated playing it higher) and plays perfectly. Those are the only games i've tried.

big trouble:
with the wsxga you can run the games at 1440x1050 with black bars so your argument goes poooooof
and performance will be better.

gastan:

the wsxga screen is beautiful and in my opinion its better than the wuxga. its better lit and has better colour reproduction. and games that dont support widescreen can actually be run at widescreen resolution: www.widescreengamingforum.com

Fetz:
I can't imagine that you'd have problems running wifi and bluetooth at the same time. I've used both minimally so far so I can't say for sure that they work flawlessly. My AX7 had no such troubles, but the wifi and bluetooth were on seperate cards.

Vollgasasi:
I wasn't arguing anything, I was simply stating facts. Of course you can run at that lower wide screen res (1440x1050), but that is not a common resolution so many games will have issues. For instance, battlefield 2 will not run in wide screen modes so you'd be forced to play at 1280x1024. Many other games will have the same problem.

Wsxga screens look really nice, but you have fewer options.

1440x1050 is not a widescreen rez bigtrouble, its 4:3 thats why i said it (i dont know if its 1440 though, its something with 14xx) and with this rez you will have the same black borders as you have with the wuxga and 1600x1200 rez..

Either way, you're missing out on 1600x1200 with a wsxga screen. Whether or not that's an issue depends on the person. It was for me.

Well gee,,, the dell gen2 drivers do not let you adjust anything and it automatically stretches . This is why it seems blurry to me compared with my desktop lcd at native same rez . i didn’t realize you could have borders and not stretch it . This is disappointing that dell would do this. i guess they know the people that would buy a dell would complain about the borders. Fact is i never herd about this in the dell forum so it’s new to me. I like it more choices not cover-ups . I would much rather have the choice and choose for myself then to be forced into stretch screen. On the smaller 1600x1000 screen size I must look at the bright side I will be able to turn all eye candy on with better performance in any game . i can allways conect it to a larger desktop display .

This will still be the most powerful laptop i know of, I will not have to stay home as much with my workstations, I am counting the days to delivery. One day since ordered..
