I have a weird problem with mine 7800 go ... the temperature is on a rollercoaster... it goes from 66 to 82 in a few minutes.. no matter what clock settings it is in the temperature still goes from 66 to 82 ....
now I believe is the driver and I am using xtreme-G mobileforce 82.65 v2.25

now a few weeks a go this did not happened ....

so what driver are you guys using ???

and how do I uninstall a driver ? what program should I use to delete all files ???

thanks !

I think there is a driver bug or error because I8fanGUI reads my GPU tempature to be 45C to 50C on idle. I have no idea how to take screen shots, this is best I can do, unless anyone can give me instructions on how to take screen shot. I will be more than happy to take a screen shot and show you guys the picture of my GPU tem. Thanks

what system are you using ???

tha nks for the reply !

I believe is 8k and I have just down clocked the GPU. I hope by downclocking will reduce heat and save battery life

if the problem started immediately after you applied AS5 then you may have a HS seating issue. If the HS is not seated properly then the cooling will not work effeciently. Try taking the HS off and re-seating it. This may solve the issue as well.

Ya that ^ .... if the problem happend after you applied AS5 then you need to re-apply correctly... if its not that then new drivers would be a good thing to try.

As5 tends to be trickier to apply than normal thermal paste and tends to require a different procedure since it benefits from a bit more of it hthan normal thermal (you tend to apply just a bit of normal thermal, and as5 is suggested to apply in a bigger quantity for what i have seen). Check the tutorial on the 9300 section

Hit the print screen key open paint click edit and then paste, don't forget to save the file.

I think it's the way the laptop controls the heat. It waits until the gPU hits around 80, then the fan kicks in and it drops back to 62 for a while, then the fan turns off and it goes back up until it hits 80 again, and so forth. I think thats what i've noticed.

or better yet, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+PRINT SCREEN all at once to get a snapshot of JUST your currently active window and not the entire desktop. Entire desktop snapshots are way too big in my opinion.

Then save it as a jpeg using paintbrush or someother image editor as you mentioned... then upload the saved jpeg to someplace like photobucket.com

"its almost too easy" (as Garth used say)

Thats interesting, why is the core slowdown 90C instead of the normal 110C it is on the 7800GTX? Or did you change it?

Actually, you just need to hit "Alt + Print Screen", and not the other two, and it will do just the open window.

willfred,
This one a bit off-topic..
What is the driver version of your NVIDIA GeForce 7800? Mine is 78.59 (default. installed by Dell) but I don't see "temperature settings" option in the left pane.

Any idea how to have those?
All I got in Geforce Go 7800:
- Digital Flat Panel Settings
- Performance & Quality Settings
- Color correction
- Video Overlay settings
- PowerMizer
- NVRotate
- Desktop Management
-- Profiles
- Menu Editing
Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates
Tools

I don't have those others that you got. I wonder how to get them.
Ty.

AS5 needs time to settle before it can become most effective; normally a 200 hour burn in time.
