Laptop Sleeve

So where do you get those laptop sleeves (like the one that ECS sometimes includes with their laptops)? I looked online everywhere I can't find one, that at least matches a 15.4 notebook (I am looking into getting an Acer 5672WLMi).

bump?

There are a couple different sleeves from different companies:

- Booq Viper
- Shinza ZeroShock

And there are others, but those are the two main ones.

OK, I am looking through their websites, but I don't seem to be able to find anything that will match Acer specifically. I mean, can you confirm that the 15.4" they have is good for the Acer 5672WLMi?

Know what you mean; bags are made generic. I'd say run around your town or a nearby one and try 'em out. When you find what you want, order it from the cheapest place.

On a semi-related note, I did that with my bass guitar case when I got that. Ended up getting a custom fitted one from the company that made my guitar 'cause the others were absolute shite.

www.ebags.com. you can search for those fitting your laptop, or just sleeves for 15.4" laptops

I just came back from my research trip, and visited at least half a dozen places. None of them have laptop sleeves. It's almost like where I live I have no choice (I have to order online). I don't know what to do, I really don't want to be putting my laptop in my school bag with the sleeve (wear and tear as well as other dangers).

Looks like I may have found something after all:

http://www.ebags.com/case_logic/neop...?modelid=44291

Aspire 5672 is not in the list (outdated list?), but Aspire 5000 is, and according to acer's website Aspire 5672's dimensions are smaller (only a tiny bit) than that of the Aspire 5000.

Do you think it is a perfect match? Or will the laptop be loose inside the sleeve? (Needless to say that would only defeat the purpose of the sleeve)

I had the case logic sleeve for my dell 5150, and it fit pretty well. But when I got my ibm t43, which is much thinner, the case logic was like a dress on it. I think the caselogic is a pretty good sleeve though; a good amount of thickness.

I just ordered the 14" version of the sumdex impactguard. It seems that the dimensions of the 15.4" sumdex are smaller than the case logic.

When you looked around, did you check out compusa? It and the apple store are the only places I remember seeing laptop sleeves. For compusa, though, I think it depends on the location. One I was in had no sleeves, while another had an entire row full of sleeves. Of course none of them were 14" non-widescreen sleeves (making it useless for me), but they had a lot of 15.4" sleeves. I hate ordering off the internet because you have no idea what you're getting, and I have made a couple of wrong decisions... But hopefully the sumdex ends up being good.

I am not in US, I'm in Canada, so needless to say we don't have CompUSA's here

As I said, I had no luck finding anything in the stores around here. So whatever I get, will be online. And now that you say that it's risky, I am thinking that maybe I shouldn't. Damn this is getting very annoying. I am off to the store to buy the Acer 5672WLMi on Tuesday, as for the sleeve... * begins to cry like a little kid who just had his lollipop taken away from him *

ah it's not That risky. you're about to spend $1000+ on a laptop, just buy a sleeve and you'll be fine.

I needed something very thin, I went with Case Logic... check the website... I got it cheaper off buy.com

I'ver never understood why people buy those things. Why not just get a bag and have a lot of space for other things?

While I can't answer for everyone else, I have a case with lots of room, but I'll probably get a sleeve as well. Keep the laptop in the sleeve ...keep the sleeve in the case, so I can just take the laptop itself if I know I'm going somewhere I won't need everything else. (Some cases come with this 'sleeve within a case' function ...mine doesn't).

I chose my case for the same kind of reason ...got one that is a bit larger than I need and with rollers so I can 1) pack it to the brim and roll it around, 2) pack it lightly with just laptop stuff and carry it, or 3) just grab the laptop in its sleeve. It's all about options ...why limit yourself? Sleeves aren't that expensive ...
