What could you be doing to it that would get scratches on the screen?

Just be careful not use anything abrasive when you clean it. Most people wont want to touch the screen because it'll get yuky fingerprint smudges all over.

Other than that, I dont see how you could scratch it other than if you were one of those people who got mad at games and threw mice or something!

And yes, the LCD is user replaceable.

The truelife screen has a smooth coating where the non truelife has a semi-rough coating that is designed to diffuse glare. Since the truelife screen has a smooth surface made of plastic, it will not scratch any "easier" than the non truelife screen, but it will not hide the scratches as well do to the smooth surface.

You will want to treat the screen just like you would treat a decent pair of glasses. Don't wipe the screen with abrasive towels, etc. Use mild cleaning agents or specific LCD cleaning towels for best results.
