Hi,

I'm a new member and english not very vell. I have an Asus A6Vc too. Your problem seems as not normal but you can try these:

First in my notebook's box (and your's) there is an recovery cd. In recovery cd envelope there is a manual for recovery. When you restart or turn on pc you must push F9 or some of another F keys, in manual you can find it.

Second you say recovery cd do not solve your problem. I think you don't set your bios. If you want to recover your system with recovery cd, you must set your optical drive (dvd rw vs) as first boot device. So recovery will start from your cd.

I'm waiting for good news from you

Windows 98??????? Are you sure? Did you get XP with this computer? This is very odd. Go in the Bios and see how it is detecting your hard drive. If it does you may want to try a DOS startup CD and see how your partitions are setup with fdisk. It looks like you are booting up from the recovery partition so your HD is messed up.

Omg I Experienced The Exact Same Problem Today

i have no idea how this happend, and i have no idea how to fix it.

seems that my C drive is now called RECOVERY.
and my SYSTEM drive which used to be C, is now E.
and my MULTIMEDIA drive, which used to be D, is still D.

I think my SYSTEM drive has swapped places with the RECOVERY and now the laptop is trying to boot from the RECOVERY drive instead of my SYSTEM drive.

can anyone verify this? or provide some assistance?

btw i own a w7j, not a A6vc.
