Problem with my powerbook

I own a 12inch powerbook that i purchased maybe a month and a half ago. Everything is running great except that once in a while (maybe twice a week) i get this message in all these diff languages sayin that the computer needs to be shut down. When i restart it, it says that OS X quit unexpectedly. Anyone has any idea whats wrong? Thanks

Have you tried running a program like Onyx or any other system utilitiess? It sounds like some sort of a kernel panic error.

actually i did get a RAM upgrade when I got it. Its at 1.25 G. I got it from the Apple store.

hmmm, one of the extra disks u got w/ the system should have a hardware test on it (it should say it on the disk). run the memory test and see what it tells u. it may be a bad stick and may be faulty, or u may be having software issues, depending on what u have installed.

yeah, i had the same issue, but this was due to a ram stick. Once i removed it everything was fine. But, if you got the upgrade from apple, then I would assume that the sticks are fine. Mine was a 3rd party upgrade.

yeah, but even from apple u'll get your occasional lemon. same goes for any other component as well, most are fine while a few will give u problems.

ok so i realized that the only time this problem happens is when i access my dashboard. what could this mean?

could mean u have a funky widget, i'd start playing with the non-standard widgets that didn't come with OS X and see if u can find the one giving u problems.
