Call of Duty, Pegasus Bridge

I saw a program on the History Channel last night about the Invasion of Normandy, more specifically about the taking and holding of Pegasus Bridge. The level in Call of Duty of this historic battle is frighteningly close to the actual layout of the battlefield. From the proximity of the glider landings, to the trenches, to the arms used in the battle, both allied and axis, the fidelity to the actual event is remarkable. Cudos to Activision.

Is that the documentary that also showed game footage? Saw reference to it on (I think) Gamespot.

yeah thats one thing ive always liked about COD, its very realistic, and most of the map layouts are virtual copies of the real deal.

Well, you can't dig a one foot long trench for taking a dump in. Where is the realism?

Shazza,

I didn't see game footage in the program. It was pretty hard core history with interviews, photographs etc. But, I had to leave before the very end, so it is possible the program took a left after turned it off. One thing I didn't do was check on the names of the commanders at the battle. I remember in COD the CO was named. The CO at Pegasus Bridge led the initial assault, was killed, and thus became the first to die at Normandy, as was decribed and re-enacted in the program.

Indeed it is... If anyone noticed in front of the tanks in some levels (i dont own it so i cant recall exactly) there are these metal spikey things sticnking out. In some history chanel special about a certian battle these were accualy implemented to let the tanks tear through small trees and vegitation. I was amazed they got that detailed. Im quite impressed =P

I'm sorry I missed it - I will be checking the guide to see when it's on again. I'm playing CoD2 right now.
