What type of drive do you have NEC sony and what type of media are you tring to use?

there was just a thread on this a couple weeks ago, but i know the search doesn't work at times.

Others and I have had the same problem. Usually with the sony drive. Just call dell or use dell service chat and get it replaced (try to ask for an NEC drive). Mine got to me in 2 days.

Don't try to flash to non-Dell firmware as that may void the warranty.

good luck

Well guys I called tech and the guy entered my computer via remotely....and found a software problem. Im missing "vobmpg2.ax" and "vobtrans.ax" I can now watch dvds on powerdvd but real player, win media player will not play them. And the drive is not recognizing blank dvd's. The guy could not fix the problem, and I hate this beating me, is there anything I can do before a format?
