My Personal Experience With The SZHello everyone. Last week, I purchased an SZ120P/B from CompUSA. I was looking for a replacement for my S150 and it seemed to fill that role nicely. Unfortunately, I had to give up on the lappy. When I got my first one, I promptly loaded all my apps and of course, World of Warcraft. I was amazed at the performance of the GF 7400 and the included gig of RAM helped a lot, of course. I was able to run WoW with all settings at max quality. But during the process of testing WoW, I discovered that the monitor was displaying noise along any and all color gradients. By noise I mean that pixels were flashing intermitently in white, as if you were watching a TV with no signal. I dismissed it as a manufacturing defect and went back to CompUSA to exchange it for a new one. As I finished the return process and my business account sales rep brought me my replacement, I thought that I should test it while I was there just for peace of mind. And to our surprise, the screen suffered from the same problem/symptoms. It was both shocking and very disappointing. I had fallen in love with the laptop's zippy performance, and now I could not have one. I had to settle for a TX650P/B since I was not about to keep going through the return process to find out the laptops were flawed.
Tomorrow I will visit an alternate CompUSA store that is farther away from my residence to test my luck, since I still have more than 15 days left to exchange my product. Of course, I will not let them take my TX away and will have them check the laptop before I make the exchange. Hopefully that was a bad batch of VAIO's in that particular store.
I just wanted to share my feedback since I have done quite a few searches to see if anyone else had encountered this problem. Wish me luck on tomorrow's adventure to get an SZ with a good LCD screen!
