I'm tempted to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are reflecting this weird core duo bug. If not, that is outright BS.

Hope SZ turns out better than S-series

So with max settings you prob. only get 1.5 hrs? Does your S-series have more battery life than your sz? Is the screen on the SZ series better than the S?" I returned my vaio s-580P thinking max for the sz-160 would be 2,200$. Now I don't think the SZ is worth it because the battery life is not good for a dual core(from what i've heard). It gets the same battery life as an S Series which was not a dual core. From the first pictures of the comparision the two screens look the same. The main reason I returned my S was due to the screen and due to the battery life. I hope both these problems are resolved. DO any of you think the 2,499$ is worth it for the carbon fiber? I may end up buying the customizable SZ. Me decision will be based on reviews and me going to Circuit City/BEst Buy to check the laptop myself.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread the screen on the sz is nicer than the s series. You can see the brightness difference in a couple of the pics. The battery life is better than my s560.

You don't need to shell out 2500 for premium, the cheapest premium you can get is sz110 which is on preorder, but you can buy for around 1950

SZ110B is not a premium laptop. It is a non-premium model, without the carbon fiber cover.

I guess they made a mistake which we can maybe take advantage of?

hi to all.

pleae help me choose.. in other words: TX2, SZ, or S5 ? and why?

Still can't decide whether I should get an SZ or get another S360p. The 360p is still so sweet.

What kind of battery life do you get using the GeForce 7400? In other words if you do the exact same things as integrated (email, internet, and DVD) how big of a difference is there going to be?

I saw the bottom of SZ pics where cpu heatsink is shown. Is it possible to upgrade the processor yourself on the SZ? If it is possible, I can save a few hundred bucks more... Or does anyone know if the processor can be removed/upgrade through the bottom of the machine?

Bad news for my sz. It has a bad hd. I started getting some random errors and then the hd would make a very loud clicking noise. It has turned into a grinding noise with messages like"no operating system found". It will also just reboot itself four or five times in a row.

back to compusa.

So waddya think ccd543, is the machine worth it or not? Seriously considering cancelling my order.

Sorry to hear of your problems ccd543. Now that the batt. life is half of what I thought it was going to be I am going to pass on the SZ. I really wanted to get this. I am going to stick with my TX for now I guess.

I think you are too quick to judge by one person experience... If every single person will start having the same problems that would be something to consider, but so far it's only isolated problem.

Just picked up a replacement at my compusa. They had received four more since I bought the only one they had last week. They also told me the 160p was special order only and asked if I wanted it.

Hard drives go bad..I chalk that up to bad luck. The first thing I have noticed abut my new one is that the hd protection does not come on doing the same things that set the other one off.

I really like the performance of the unit..smooth bf2 and 4 hours battery life with a beautiful screen that is highly portable is a nice combo for me.

Would I change some things on it? Of course I would.
I am hoping the battery life will extend more after I apply the regedit fix for the memory leak.

glad to hear that you like your replacement better. I am waiting for some reviews on premium model before getting one...

I thought the battery life was 7 hours only in the premium models (160,170,180) where there is an led lit lcd.

How do you like it so far? Interested in your thoughts on fan noise, battery life, and heat output.
