1.09 BIOS released...

Thread Starter
I just noticed that the 1.09 BIOS is out.

http://www.alienware.com/ftp_downloa...os/boot109.zip

I'm wondering if this will correct all the problems everyone is having with the 1.08 BIOS? I'm currently back on the 1.05 BIOS because my system was very unstable under the 1.08.

Any of you give it a whirl yet?

I have put it on my laptop, and will post anything i ifnd out.

Suposedly it makes the lappy run faster, by tweaking memory stuff. I know that when I poked around there is a power button setting where it was set to suspend. I opened it up and I could choose power on/off, or a suspend feature. I put it on the power on/off becuase thats how I use my power button. I'm not sure if that was there before or not, but it is now.

Also I think it was there, but I went in and enabled my IR port that was disabled before. So far othing has given me problems.

Nopes, maybe after a few other Guinea Pigs..er, I mean AW users give it a shot I'll take a look.

Right now I'm still working on that whole WiFi issue to see if anything else can be done. It's nice to see that AW isn't all that concerned with it

well my AQM3 score didn't change much. So who knows what this did, but no problems I can link to the bios. I was getting pixel problems in 3d apps for a bit, but I htink that was because of the overclocked vid card( turned it down closer to stock speed) but a restart set htings right.

Thanks for the link to the update Drew, but where on the AW site do you find the BIOS updates. I can not find them in the support section. Is there an FTP site that has them or do I just need to look harder?

Under Drivers.

Oh, just had to look harder. Those pulldown menus in the driver section are not very intuitive. I never tried just choosing WindowsXP from the pulldown menus and clicking “Continue”. That worked.

Duno if it helps. I knew Drew I had talked to ya about the 1.08 before. I kept it on and just dealt with the frustration. So far the BIOS(1.09) stoped the Memory dump error I kept geting, and I have no longer got the ACPI.SYS crap that comes up. But I have only been using it for about 4 hours, Ill keep ya updated though.

TTYL, Phyro

P.S. The ACPI.SYS error was simply solved for me by shuting down, pulling the power out the back, booting on Battery, then pluging the power back in when in the windows environment. Then it wouldnt happen for a while.

Installed 1.09

I installed it last night and all is well It did not seem to change much on my laptop but alot of others are stating it has cleared up a few problems with memoy and other random things.

Well I still get the ACPI.SYS thing were I have to shutdown, unplug power, start on battery, then plaug power back in, any who... I no longer get the "Physical Memory Dump error" witch always happened 40 min in to any games I played. Otherwise I do not see anything increased or decreased or any performance advanteges to it.

Thats all I got for now. If I find any more info anywere on the BIOS update Ill post it.

Went back to the 1.05 BIOS after my system locked up on the 1.09's several times. What is wrong is unknown....all I know is that my laptop WILL NOT take any BIOS update correctly.

My system SCREAMS on the 1.05, but locks up (in Windows XP and the bootup) on the newer BIOSes. WTF....
