Opinions needed!!!!! ASUS Laptops

Hey guys. I am looking for opinions regarding ASUS laptops. All models. I have an online pc business and we are thinking of offering ASUS laptops as we grow our business.
We use many of their components in our desktops and find them to be of great quality.
We have several "loaners" from ASUS (W1,W2,W3 etc..), but I wanted to get real public opinion.
We think they have a great line-up...something for everyone.
Our website is centered around gaming, but we are thinking about branching out and selling to everyone!
Please do not ask for website as I do not want this thread to be misinterpreted.
Just wants some sound offs!!!! Good or Bad!

ASUS has a great reputation on these forums. My brother owns a Z71v that i bought him for his bday in May 2005. So far its been great, and service from discountlaptops.com has been top notch. As of right now, the Z70va is the favorite "all around" notebook around here.

ASUS laptops are generally of a very high quality but two problems you should be aware of, two of the most popular laptops the Z71v and the Z70va have "issues" the Z70Va often has problems with ghosting sometimes very severe ghosting, one reseller on this forum reported up to 60% of the ones being shipped to them with ghosting issues. The 71 has some big problems with its battery. I would strongly recomend these two threads http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=94034

other than that I would strongly recomend ASUS

I own a Z70va.. initially had the ghosting issue, but was taken care of right away by my reseller ISTNC. I believe that most cases of this issue has been taken care of and should not worry you at all. Quality wise.. the Z70va is the best computer I've ever owned.. sleek, stylish, and professional looks. Performance wise.. prob best in its class.. lightweight yet can handle games real well.. I have my settings for Doom 3 set pretty high.. and I've just tried FEAR.. I can set it up to almost high. The Z70va is def worth the $$.

ledzepp, that is good to hear (about the games).

Our view on mobile gaming is mobility comes first. That is reason you own a laptop. The x700 seems to handle games just fine, in our opinion. We like to see some kind of decent battery life as well. The newest arrivals from ASUS should be in our hands for testing at the begining of March.
We still may offer some sort of desktop replacement model, but geesus...a 12lb. laptop!...that can fry eggs no less!!! I mean these desktop processors in these boxes run hot!
I guess there is some sort of market for a box like that, but it is so small (the market) we are not sure it would be worht it.
Frankly, we have tested some Clevo and Uniwill products as well. Their newest products are sound, but the ASUS models out class them 100% (style, perceived durability, weight/power ratio, battery life etc....)

I'd agree with what folks have already posted so far. Asus makes very good high-quality systems. There were issues with the top selling 15.4" barebone models (Z71v & Z70va), but it looks like Asus is finally shipping redesigned batteries for the Z71v, which will, God willing, provide a permanent fix to that problem, and hopefully they're also addressing the Z70va red ghosting issue. The W2v has a sound output problem with the front jack that Asus said they're fixing for the "j" model revision. Other than those three specific issues, I've read (and experienced with my Z71v) almost entirely positive feedback for Asus' notebook line. They're a solid investment, in my opinion.

i am a long time computer builder and have had great luck with asus components over the years.

i have never owned a laptop before, and for many years i refused to even consider buying what i felt was an over-priced, under-powered, prone-to-failure component.

now that i have returned to school, i needed a laptop for my classes.. i couldnt stand the thought of buying a dell or other similar big-name laptop.. in my research i found out about the z70va and took the plunge sight-unseen..

after having used and serviced many laptops over the years for work, i can safely say that this is by far the best laptop i have ever had the pleasure of working with. i am absolutely stunned at how solid the construction is and how fast the system is. it rivals my desktop setup at home.

now i have only had the laptop for a few days, but so far so good...

highly reccomended.

I've had the Z70Va for 6 months now (got it in August last year), and I have the same opinion. Fast, solid construction, great battery life and versatility, and an all around quality notebook.

I would definitely recommend Asus notebooks for nearly any category of laptop. The only one Asus doesn't cover is the extreme gaming sector. They don't offer anything with a high end video card in it like the 7800GTX or X1800, the mid range cards are as powerful as they go. You may want to consider a Clevo model for notebooks with the fastest video cards around in them, though the market for them isn't near as big as it is for more mobile notebooks.

Thanks for the replies...awesome stuff...but I kind of wanted everyones opinion on Asus lappies not just Asus lappie owners. I originally posted in the notebook general section but the admin moved it....oh well...still great responses.

On the gaming point....yeah,we noticed there was no extreme options, but we are not looking for that option either. At this point in the technology game, to be able to game period on a laptop is awesome. To be able to do it at native res with "some" eye candy on is SPECTACULAR....and still be able to have 2 1/2 hrs + batt life while doing it....out of this world.

We just received the newest dual core boxes....yes, all the ones you have been reading about. You will not be disappointed. They got game!!!!

Please do not ask any questions regarding these models as we are bound by a confidentiality agreement with Asus until next month. I can not reveal any specs eventhough they can be had from several foriegn sites already.

Anyway, thanks again for the replies, and by all means...keep sounding off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
