Hello, I need to learn some basic facts about LCD inverters.

I need to replace the LCD on my laptop as it is broken. If I replace the LCD with a compatible LCD from a different manufacturer, can I still use the old inverter? The new LCD uses the same two pin power plug as the old LCD, and will fit the present inverter.
