In the movie "IT" the clown pennywise is trying to lure a boy with Balloons , thus your sig reminds me of that scene .

It's At the Repair Center Now

My new baby has reached the address that AW put on the label !

Feb 15, 2006

Delivered

Memphis, TN

Does anybody know if that is the repair center ? I wonder if they have contracts with places or do they run their own ?

I hope it's not long now before I know something. I am curious to see what they find.

Hmmm, no idea. That is odd. All of my dealings have been with the mothership in Miami. I guess they must have little regional shops... but TN and FL being so close, who knows.

I'd call AW right away. It should have gone to Miami, FL not Memphis, TN. If you run into trouble PM Alienware-Steve or AlienRichard to get mosre details. That does not seem right.

It's worth a call to check, but it's also possible they send RMAs to Memphis (believe that's a hub for FEDEX) - then have special shipping arrangements to Miami. I've seen others reference shipping to Memphis.

Thanks for the terrifying scare everyone. I think I turned quite pale on that one. I did some research and I think Shazza is right. I just got off the phone with AWCS, they said the TN address is right. I have delivery confirmation from fed-ex but AW does not see that in their system yet. I did some more digging and found a big fed-ex hub there. I bet they truck to the hub and fly it the rest of the way.

PS: I believe the flight part since the AW tech told me to check tomorrow morning.

Don't worry

Don't worry about scaring me. I have been very impressed with all the peer-support I get here. heck, we are all in the AW saucer together !

I just got a PM back from AlienRIchard as I was also freaking out about this and he said that they do have a depot in Memphis, TN for repairs so you are okay.

Sorry about that. I did not know there was a repair facility there as I have not seen it advertised and it seems everyone in the states has always posted dealing with AW in Miami.

All is well. Again I am sorry for the unneeded worry.

I'm not sure if I should be worried ?

I sent my system back Last Sat (2/11) and got FEDEX delivery confirmation on wed (2/15). I keep calling AWCS and they tell me they don't have my system. I'm guessing it's sitting in some sort of recieving dept and has not been entered into the system yet. It's just got me worried since the tech told me to call when I got the FEDEX confirm. My wife says I'm worrying too much but I just don't know..............

New Chapter has begun......

OK got a really big scare and then got everything answered too. I just got an email asking to pack and send my system. GEEZE, my first thought is where the heck is my system ! It was delivered on wed.... Ok I get AWCS on the phone and they mention the system was put in their system as recieved today. (I bet it sat in recieving for a while, and it might take a bit for the home office to pick up entries halfway across the country). That email must of been some sort of automated response to the system not being entered in a timely fashion (to help remind someone that they need to send as if anyone would). Well anyway this is first time I have relaxed since wed. My advice to anyone, in a similar senerio, through this whole thing is to be very patient as things do not move as fast as owner's heightened adrenaline levels make us move. Overall the Alienware people have treated me with great understanding. As long as you treat them with respect and understanding they will return the favor.

waiting waiting waiting...........

One week since FEDEX said my system made it there. No word, no email, just the verbal word from two AW guys that they have my system and to call them on Friday (2/24) for a possible update...... I can't wait to see my system again !!!!

Ordered 1/2
phase 1 - 1/4
phase 3 - 1/9
phase 5 - 1/30
phase 8 - 2/7
phase 9 - 2/7
phase 10 - 2/7

arrived 2/10

returned 2/11

reach repair depot 2/15 (FEDEX date)

AW says it got there 2/17 - "verbally"

-Not bugging them too much this round since I want the job done right !

I hope I'm past the Halfway point now. It will very cool when this is all over and just a memory !

I get the impression they have a lot to work on (both older machines and new ones). If even the tiniest amount fail under warranty out tens of thousands out there, that leaves a hell of a lot of machines to fix up.
