Low brightness in Latitude D810 LCD borders

Thread Starter
I own a Latitude D810 w/ WSXGA+ 15.4 display for about 6 months.

I really can't tell if this was already happening before, but recently
I noticed that the right and left edges of the LCD screen are somewhat
darkened, almost as if the brightness is reduced in the pixels shown
in those regions. It's not like the pixels are dead (far from that),
but in certain color/contrast conditions this darkening is
noticeable, specially in the low left and low right corners. Sometimes I can also identify some dark patterns (much less noticeable) near the middle of the screen.

This effect is more noticeable when using a plain color middle gray
background.

My questions are: is this effect common with LCD screens? What causes it?
Should I order a replacement?

Thanks!

My nine year old Latitude LM is as bright as the day it was delivered.

Phone for a replacement. They will talk you through settings and you should run Diagnostics (tap F12 on Boot) first.
