Well I’m new to the forum, but I’ve done a search of this site for similar issues and found none.
When trying to use Media Center to watch live TV or MS Movie Maker (to tv/video capture) all I get is static on the screen, however, the audio seems fine.
I’m hoping it’s just a driver or codec issue that can I resolve with y’alls help, because I do not want to enter RMA purgatory.
Thanks in advance to all.
All the settings seem to be in order. NTSC Cable is selected for the TV tuner. I’m not trying to dub anything with copy protection. Cables are high quality and have been swapped out to test.
In addition to the windows updates and Tweak UI, I’ve only installed Nero 6.6, Partition Magic, AcDc picture viewer, and a Macromedia Flash.
However, I’ve deselected every video and audio file handling option in those programs, so they’re never the default programs.
The laptop comes with Cyberlink PowerDVD, NTI, Movie Maker, MS Media player, etc. preinstalled.
I’ve also noticed when watching live TV on the Acer there is a substantial delay compared to regular TV, and using another TV tuner (DVD/VCR unit) inline doesn’t work, so I’m guessing the TV tuner resides solely in the software and doesn’t have a bypass option.
Please let me know what, if any, additional information is needed. Please refrain from acronyms and abbreviations, as I’m not a techie. Thanks again.
Re: NTFS
Many of you have posted questions regarding creating and resizing NTFS partitions on the Acers.
I successfully used Partition Magic to create one OS Partition and a 100 GB data/page file partition and converted both partitions to NTFS without problem… save one maybe.
On the OS partition, disc defragmenter leaves 25% file fragmentation… One solid block of red fragmented files. It’s not remnants of the PQservice partition as I left it alone…. I know I’ll misplace the CDs in the future.
Any fixes… explanations?
DarthAcer:
In one of your posts you seem to say the drivers available on the European Acer support site are incompatible with the US models. Is this correct?
Didn’t know what you were referring to when you alluded to 5.6 versus 5.8.
You also mentioned, in another post, that MS plans to cease activating MS OEM software online sometime this spring. Does that mean the MS Office 2003 OEM software I received bundled with another computer (but never activated) cannot be installed on this Aspire in the upcoming months?
