Dell current lappys?

Thread Starter
So I was thinking of maybe selling my XPS1 on ebay and getting a more powerfull dell lappy.

Is the XPS M170 the most powerfull lappy dell has for gaming?

Is the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7800 GTX the fastest mobile video card on the market? What happened to dell and ATI? What is ATI's equivalent to the above card?

I noticed that the M170 uses a Pentium M processor not P4 processor. Is this a lot better power and temp wise then?

Finally I don't wanna throw down all the cash for a M170 if a brand new processor and gpu shows up on dells website 2weeks after I receive the M170 for example. This happened when I ordered the XPS the first time. The 9800 card suddenly came out. So do u think anything new is gonna pop up soon on dells website?

Thanks a lot guys!

The XPS M170 is currently the best gaming laptop Dell has but I suspect Dell will announce a duo core replacement soon as the 9300 was replaced with the 9400.

The 7800 go gtx is currently Nvidia's best laptop graphics card.

The Pentium M runs cooler and uses less power than the Pentium 4. PM is awesome for gaming but multitasking is where it gets bogged down.

As I said before, I think Dell will release a duo core replacement for the XPS M170 within the next few months but the M170 is currently the best lappy Dell has.

The M170 is the best lappy for gaming Dell offers.

The 7800GTX is the best card on the market, period. ATI doesn't have any mobile cards that can compare or come close.

The Pentium M is indeed much better on power and heat than the Pentium 4. It will run a ton cooler, and save battery life. In a lot of instances it outperforms the Pentium 4 as well.

You have a 21 day return window if you decide you don't like it. If Dell comesout with the M170 replacement two weeks after your purchase, you can send it back. Not sure the fees, I'm sure you'd have to pay shipping. Not sure about a restocking fee though. Nobody can tell you when the new XPS will come out, as nothing has been leaked or announced yet.

Woops, looks like I was 2 minutes late.

The Pentium M is a MUCH better processor than the Pentium 4. It uses the Dothan technology which is by far better than the Netburst of the Pentium 4. It also uses a ton less voltage, thus, less heat. The PM is one of the best CPUs Intel has put out to date. It gives AMD a run for their money, which is more than I can say for a Pentium 4.

ATI will be coming out with their Mobility Radeon X1000 series, some of which they have already put on the market. The Mobility Radeon X1800 and X1900 GPU's will be coming out shortly and will steal the market from Nvidia! Also news on SLI laptops has leaked, so I would wait for that to be released.
