I was looking or recommendations for some free alternatives to popular programs. Here is what I've found.

MS Office
- Open Office 2.0
- AbiWord

MS Publishers
- Rag Time Solo

Nero/Roxio
- CD Burner XP Pro 3

Photshop
- Gimp

IE
- Mozilla
- Firefox
- Opera

OE
- Thunderbird
- Mozilla

Outlook

Any others?

Is Eudora free now?

The light version of Eudora has always been free, or at least it was free last time I checked. It was popular in San Diego because that's where Qualcomm is based out of. Personally I didn't like it much and have always used Outlook. The 2003 version of Outlook is the best yet, so it'll be interesting to see what happens when 2006 comes out later this year. I bought the student and teacher version which is a sweet deal because you can legally have it on three different computers. The deal became even better because I bought it from Office Max on the day it came out so I also got a free HP printer, HP 2.0 MP digital camera, photo paper and a 32 Mb SD card. Those spec's are crappy now, but at the time that actually retailed for $300. So Office plus all that for $140 = Very good deal

edit- I went to their site and now there's three versions of it with two of them being free..

You might want to check the Sticky in Notebook General section. It has a lot of suggestions and reviews of FreeWare.

I think I'm gonna go back to PC-Cillin personally. Norton's a hog with serious issues..

meh, trillian was always a resource hog in my book, not that gaim is "light" like miranda, but better and MORE STABLE than trillian (at least in my experience, currently using Gaim2.0 beta1)
