If your still under the 30 Day satisfaction Program and have under 5 dead pixels annoying the hell out of you then you have a solution. Call Dell Tech support and firmly say you demand a replacement of your lcd screen. The repsonse will be that it clearly falls under the industry standard of being under 5 Dead pixels. You should respond daying then you are no longer satisfied with your system and you will be returning it because of the unsatisfactory hardware provided. you will be on hold as a supervisor will take over or will suggest the tech to send you or have your unit sent for an LCD replacement.

IMHO if I had anything wrong with the laptop in the 1st 30 I would just send it back. Reason being you have no guarantee that the replacement will be better and by the time you do the swap you may be out of the 30 day limit and be stuck. I have bought multiple dells as well and only one (i8000) did I have to return and reorder.

This is also true but its the chance you take with all companies LCD screens. Since HP/Compaq and Dell ship the most laptops world wide they also recieve the most flak regarding dead pixels. Its not the companies fault that the screens they recieve have dead pixels and not every company will offer remote service for such damage. I reccomend dell for this kind of thing because right from the beginning you have a slight insurance against this sort of problem but as MoeDaddy Suggests if you cannot risk waiting time (avg ship time for replacement is 5-10 days) then you should consider a full refund not including shipping to send it back

I was not talking about the dead pixels specifically. I don't think a few dead pixels would be enough for me to send back a laptop. I was referring to problems in general with the system, as in a serious problem noticed within the first 30 days, excessive dead pixels would be included, in which case I would just return it and reorder. I do agree with you in that you take the same change and maybe more so with other companies, some do not stand by their products at all. Like I said I have had good luck with dell. I did get an i8000 that was always in for repair and dell replaced it with a referb i8500 so I was pleased. Dell has been good to me over the years and even though the current state of customer service is wanting you can still get things done and they have never failed to make me happy in the end.
