Thinking about an external monitor

Thread Starter
I was thinking of buying an LCD to hook up to my laptop. Couple questions.

1) If I use the monitor exclusively can I leave the laptop closed or something so it doesn't use it up at all?

2) What do I look for for compatability?

I am thinking of a DELL - UltraSharp 2405FPW 24-inch Wide Aspect Flat Panel LCD or a 23' Apple LCD. Is one vastly superior to the others? Thanks for any help.

Hey mate...just to briefly answer your questions since no one else has thus far..

1) You can use the function (FN) + F8 I believe to cycle through the combinations of Laptop Display, External Display & Both so you can disable it...only thing is people have raised issues whether this will increase temps during gaming or using intensive apps....maybe have open a little bit.

2) On the back of your 9300 you will have connections for normal CRT monitors aswell as DVI for like flat panels etc...compatibilty depends on what you will be using it for like if you want a low MS so that you don't get ghosting in gaming....the Dell 2405FPW sure is a nice LCD and if I was going to buy anything it would be that...

hope ive helped a little, i'm sure other people will contribute their thoughts

cheers
