i have my windows mce2005 computer at home recording my favorite tv shows, i set up remote desktop over the internet and paid for a privet domain so it will work and it does work i have complete control over my home computer when away .i also have sling box but it does not automatically record to watch at a latter time. Now my problem is i want to download the TV shows so i can watch then on my gen2 when i am away from home. I am only able to copy past that’s all i know but that takes a really long time like a few hours just for one show with hotel wireless 54mbps connection . My question is does any one know of a faster way to download the recorded TV shows and is there any other way then copy past?

I know what the problem is each show is 4gb even drag and drop to my shard hard drive takes close to 5 hours. I stopped the download at 4 hours I have 25 shows to download and can’t spend weeks doing it. By that time there will be another 50 shows recorded. LOL.. I need to convert to mpg4 like itunes. Tv shows from itunes only take a hour to download on wireless 54. . But nothing recognizes the mce2005 recording format. itunes , quick time , divx , and a bunch of others I downloaded from cnet . None of them recognize the mce2005 recorded format. Just one "showbiz2" works but that only has a 15 day trial and cost $100. Does any one know of a free or cheep program that will convert the mce2005 format to mpg4?

Insetaed of converting, improve you network! Get a gigabit switch, and you will have transfer speeds of 1000mbs. Or, plug your xps into the router you have now to get 100mbs rather than the 54 you're getting over wireless.
