Gentoo Linux

Anybody have it on their 9300/XPS2/M170?

Currently messing about with further optimisations and the latest kde (took a break through the 250 odd packages to catch up on email, etc).

So fast and responsive, it's great. Well, until I find that the last few hours worth of recompiling has broken everything, hope not. Thats the bad thing though, the time it takes...

I'm gonna be putting Linux onto my XPS shortly. Normally I use Gentoo, but I might try Kubuntu out first (not sure if I can be bothered with doing a manual install/compile/config).

Does all the hardware work ok on Gentoo (or Kubuntu, for that matter)..?

The only thing used to be the SD card reader but it looks like that is sorted now. Gonna test as soon as my latest install has finished.

Working on a step by step guide for XPS2/9300 and Gentoo, at the moment it is running at aroung 36-48hrs to get a minimum (all devices working and a graphical enviroment) working. Then perhaps another day for the major other things (not that i'm writing anything for them - just simple emerges or perhaps a howto at most)...
