PC4200 and PC2-4200 - Urgent help needed!!

Hi..I have an inspiron 1300 with 256MB Ram. I want to updgrade and I believe I have two slots one with 256MB RAM and the other hopefully is vacant for upgrade.

When I go to ebuyer.com they got two types of RAM - one called PC-4200 and one called PC2-4200...do they mean one and the same? I went to Dell's website and they say all their notebooks have PC-4200 and I am confused.

Also I have 256MB in one slot ..I have two options - buy another 256MB or buy 512MB..my question is do both the slots need same amount of memory like 256MB each or 512MB each for maximum impact? and if I put in 512MB in one slot...with the total memory of 768MB be any good or do I buy another 256MB instead to make both slots with same memory? please advice.

Thanks in advance for all your help!!
