7800 family compared

I made an overview of all the popular 7800 variants in their basic form, from the 7800Go until the fastest 7800GTX512.

--------------------------7800GTX512-----------7800GTX----------------7800GT-------------------7800Go-----------------7800Go GTX
-------------------------------------------------Basic--------------------Basic---------------------Dell---------------------Dell

Core2D------------------275/1.2-----------------275/1.2------------------ 275/1.2-----------------100/1.1------------------100/1.1------Mhz/Volt
Core3D Thr--------------500/1.45------------------------------------------------------------------100/1.1------------------250/1.1------Mhz/Volt
Core 3D-----------------550/1.45----------------430/1.4-------------------400/1.4-----------------250/1.1------------------400/1.3------Mhz/Volt

Delta Geo 3D-------------0-----------------------40------------------------40------------------------0-----------------------0-----------Mhz

Mem 2D-----------------1200--------------------1200---------------------1000--------------------658-----------------------658----------Mhz
Mem Thr----------------1700-----------------------------------------------------------------------658-----------------------658----------Mhz
Mem 3D-----------------1700--------------------1200---------------------1000--------------------658-----------------------1064---------Mhz

Pixel Pipes----------------24----------------------24------------------------20----------------------16------------------------- 24
Vertex Pipes--------------8-----------------------8-------------------------7------------------------6--------------------------8

Mem Bandw--------------54.4----------------------38.4--------------------32.0----------------------21.0----------------------34.0----------*10exp9
Fill Rate------------=----13.4----------------------11.3----------------------8.8-----------------------4.0-----------------------9.6----------*10exp9
Vertices/sec------------1100----------------------860----------------------700-----------------------375-----------------------800----------*10exp6

Most obvious difference between the 7800Go and Go GTX is the fact that the Core is running on 1.1 Volt against 1.3 Volt for the GTX.

The 1.1volt is easy to alter with Nibitor into 1.3 Volt but I do not know if the hardware supports this. It will then be possible then to raise the 3D Clock quite significantly.

I have no idea what the memory Voltage is, probably very low because this memory is designed to run 1300Mhz at 1.1 Volt.
This Voltage can be hardware modded to a higher voltage, but it depends on the current amount of heat produced if this will be possible at all.

Suppose you have the core/mem in 3D at 400/1000Mhz, than the last three figures in the overview alter to 32.0/6.4/600 which is not too far away from the Go GTX, and comparable to a basic 7800GT.

Good info, but your post needs formating.

I do not like the format either.
I wanted to insert a jpg, but I do not see how to get this done.
I see only URLs that I can add.
I have corrected a few small errors in the overview.

You should be able to use IMG tags before and after the link to where the image is hosted.

I understand it fine. Thanks for the info.

The image is on my PC, but I have no web hosting. Is it possible to host it somewhere else?

This go thing has gone over the edge since not only here i've read of people reporting nvidia customer service saying that go 7800 is 32 pipeline just like gtx 24 pixel pipelines and 8 vertex

People are sometimes more interested in rumours than in hard facts.
Apart from RivaTuner, who knows more than anybody else about Nvidia, look at this thread.

So let the discussion concerning this issue be over and out.

Hi 2244..

i´ve a better idea.

In the nvidia driver there is an funktion that calls PowerMizer. This Tool switch the Power of the card down or up.
And now we must modding this driver and this control, that Powermizer set the power of this card higher than the original.

This will be easylier then modding the bios from this card.
