Question about Intel's 2200 Wireless card.......

I've been told that the 2200's software needs to be updated quite regularly and would like some opinions on how important this is if every thing is working well. Also, if it does need to be constantly updated, does anyone have the address for updating it handy?

Just go to the Dell site for any updates. I haven't had a problem with needing to udate software or drivers since I got mine though.

I have had zero problems with the PRO/Wireless 2200BG, and I used drivers straight from the Dell support site.

It also configures itself under Ubuntu 5.10, if you want to give Linux a whirl.

By the way, what did you mean when you said it needed updated regularly? I've only ever installed the drivers for it once, and never had to update them. Is that what you meant?

I was told by a buddy of mine that there are frequent updates that come out for the 2200 card and I was just wondering if I should be updating or just let it be since it's working perfect. Life is to short to worry about stuff like this anyway.

I think you only need to update if you're having problems. I updated mine 3 or 4 times because of compatibility issues with some networks. But now that it seems to be stable, I'm leaving it alone.
