iemulator for Intel Macs

Hi,

I received the following from the iemulator people yesterday:

Quote:
Hi Joel,

iEmulator 1.7.9 will be the first Intel-native version and, like all other iEmulator updates, will be a free update for all iEmulator customers. We plan to release 1.7.9 at or before the end of February. 1.7.9 will be worth the wait, however -- the performance vs. PowerPC-based emulation solutions is simply stunning!

Thanks,

Richard
This to me is great news, as my professional software is all Windows and the big reason software like Virtual PC has been slow in the past is the PPC to x86 conversion on top of the Windows to Mac conversion. That bad performance (also the slowness of the PPC Macs overall) had been holding me back from getting a Mac. This should be the final needed ingredient for me to go with a MacBook Pro as my portable solution.

never heard of the program before, might try it out, though I never seem to use VPC on my Mac.

just wait till vista comes out. you'll be able to natively install it on the mbp

They didn't even come up with it, and it will be slow. All it is is QEMU that they are using their name on. QEMU + QemuX is free and ends up being the same thing.

True, true. When Vista comes out I will be interested, as a Vista tester I can safely say it has a LOT of good things in it.
