best place to buy an 8204

As long as the snow storm isn't too bad tomorrow I will actually have my new laptop but otherwise it'll be Friday. I bought mine through NCIX.com. It's a Canadian web site that sells to the US and Canada (yes my laptop is the same one that's being sold here in the states). I paid about $2150. That would be the reason that they got my order. I can't say that I'd fully recemend them though because I actually had to fax them a form with a copy of a photo ID in order for them to take payment. Seeing as I don't have a fax machine that was a little trickey (turned out that my Credit union does this for free for members ). Overall it's been a decent experience but if you end up ordering from them good luck if you need to talk to anyone because it'll be a wait no matter what route you take (4 days to respond to an e-mail, 30 min. Wait time (that's before talking to anyone at all) on the phone). Overall I'd give them a 5/10. They didn't do anything really bad and they didn't do anything really great other than the price. Would I order from them again? Maybe but only if the price was right and I knew that I wouldn't have to contact them.

Sorry for the long post but I feel that it's my civil duty to educate people based on my experiences :P

I've bought a lot from Buy.com and have never had a problem. They are the first place I look for online electronics.

I got mine from TigerDirect. Placed the order on Mon at 4:40 pm and received it 10AM the next day! Paid $87 for overnight shipping, but it's worth it. The price for the 8204 was at $2499, which is the highest out there, but no one else had them in stock at the time.

If you have the money, by all means, spend it...

Your order from NCIX is about to arrive? They claim to have never received any 8204s everytime I call them, which includes today. I ordered, well, preordered back on the 26th of January.

I called them today and they claimed they still had no ETA for when the laptop was even coming to them. ANd yours is about to arrive? When did you order yours?

I ordered mine on January 25th. I have a canadian post tracking number but it left canada early this morning (3:37 a.m) and I live in Wisconsin so really it shouldn't take too long to get here. I was a little iffy about ordering from them but it seems like as long as you aren't in a huge hurry to get something they might be just the place to go with if you're very patient

Sorry to hear about your troubles though I hope it works out but then again I probably won't order from them in the future just because their communication is lacking and I find that to be very important.

How did you receive the Canada Post tracking number? did they email you? were you contacted about it being sent to you?

getting a little frustrated. I ordered mine the day after you, and i have received absolutely no info I have been as patient as you, and still am glad i ordered to save the 300 dollars difference in 2 weeks or so. but still...if NCIX people are receiving theirs, then I want mine too. or at least an update

What they say about having none in stock may be true. Since they have the absolute lowest price online many people have bought from them and as such there might be a long list to fill and not enough laptops yet.

I received my Canada Post tracking number via e-mail however it seems that once it's out of Canada there won't be any tracking for it.

I agree that you should have some sort of update, however I've looked through a lot of stores even after ordering mine and it seems that if a store has sold through this supply that another is on the way March 3rd. I know that's not the best of news but it's what I've seen. Good luck with it though

I ordered mine through CDW.com. Had a great experience. Only problem was that they charge sales tax. The unit shipped two days before they said it would. They were one of the cheaper sites, at 2,399.95. Two day shipping was $32.

got it through tiger direct but have to wait for my pay pal to clear (no credit card to verify my account).

Zipzoomfly has it up for $2397.89 after 2nd day shipping. Their site also says it is in stock.

Avoid Buy.com like the plague. If you don't trust me...try contacting their customer service department before you buy. They are non-existent. Not just in a figurative manner...THEY REALLY ARE NON-EXISTENT. Just my two cents...I wouldn't plop down 2-3 grand in the lap of someone I couldn't talk to.

I'm not so sure about Zipzoomfly anymore. It's been 5 days and my order hasn't even shipped yet. (much less paying the extra for 2nd day air) I tried calling them and their customer service prompt takes you to voicemail no matter what you select.

Try CDW... Send an email to their customer service and ask them to state their return policy on the specific CDW part # for the 8204. They'll respond that it's a 30-day return with no restocking fee.
