COD2/AOEIII Frame Rate

Does anyone know how to check your frame rate in either of the two games listed above?

Also, if you guys play these games, can you tell me your settings that I could eliminate because it kinda lags in both of these with maxed settings. Should I disable bloom effects & AA?

Fraps should work just fine. It doesn't seem to affect gameplay whatsoever.

Best thing it is free.

In COD2 try going into your video options and changing your rendering from DX9 to DX7. You lose shadows but gain a ton of FPS

funning a game in dx7 looks like crap and its like playing the original cod.

Mx1000 is a tank and cant be compared to a 518.
THat is if you are looking for a gaming mouse.

Have you tried running Notebook Hardware Control
I set my hard drive to maxx and CPU to max performance and it helped smooth out the lag I was having in BF2.
Huge improvement for me, I went from 70 -80 fps with drops to 10-20 fps every ten or fifteen seconds to 80-100fps with no drops at all.

Yeah but who plays games on the battery That would explain your poor performance

lols...I play with AC, but what I meant was that it will drain more power.

Yes more power use when on AC but more performance along with it.
It has different settings for running on AC or Battery.

Well, I figured out that shaders and shadows lag up the comp the most. With max shaders and shadows in AOEIII, I get 10fps, with them off, I get 60fps (140 with vsync off). So I just leave shaders and shadows on high not very high and I get about 20-25, which I believe is enough to play without lag
