reformat etc.

Okay so I recieved my inspiron 9400 two days ago, ive been running some 3dmark to test it. I got 5300 3dmark05 @ 363/882 OC/standard Dell drivers.
In 3Dmark06 I got 3200 3dmarks with the same OC and drivers.

Ive been trying BF2 special forces, and it laggs pretty much with Video options on high. It also lags quite a bit on medium, so Im currently running it at low. Thats completely wrong, a 7800 Go should atleast be able to run BF2 @ high IMO.

Do you think a reformat, removing all the bloatware, will increase my performance in BF2, and make it able to run at atleast high?

Have you disabled any unnecessary services?

hmm

BF2 runs fine at Medium on my i9300 with the 6800go there is no reason with that 3Dmark05 score that you should not be able to run BF2 at high settings, something is fishy....... The 7800 is a far better card even only the vanilla 7800 than the 6800, I would think you should check your drivers, DirectX and other drivers make sure they are current (I am sure they are) and see what you have running for services. Does not sound right....

Well, I have directX 9c installed.

Here is a pic of current services running:

It seems like very much, but I dont know whats standard...

I have not reformated the computer, just removed some of the bloatware.

Also, GFX-drivers are currently "NVIDIA display control panel" version 78.59, those drivers were installed when I got my computer.

Where can I download the new drivers?
@ nvidia.com under "Download drivers", you can only chose to download drivers for the "GeForce Go 7800 GTX"...

Im currently downloading the XTreme-MobileForce 83.60-v2.25 drivers. Ill run a 3DMark06/05 test after install to tell if there is a difference.

Btw, is it smart to uninstall the old drivers, and run drivercleaner before I install the new drivers??

With BF2 lag, the first question that comes to mind is: "How much RAM do you have?" BF2 is the game that's driving the push for 2GB to be standard in all gaming PCs.

Okay I installed the drivers now. The Control Panel for the driver seems rather unorganized, hard to find different things youre looking for.
Where can I find the overclocking option? I installed Coolbits 2, but I can only chose between "automatic overclocking" and "stock"

Okay I bought this system partly to play a game like BF2 without lagg! When I okay, even at medium settings, BF2 laggs SO much its completely unplayable. Right now I just feel like returning the whole Inspiron 9400 and upgrade my desktop...this is just stupid.

Will 2 GBs of RAM help on the lagg with BF2? If the answer is no, I will return my system. So can you plz answer me...will it?

Yes, you should. The inf files configure the drivers included in the old XP, that all is running well, before all other drivers based on these chipset components.
