Will using Non-Dell Drivers void your warranty?

Will using Non-Dell Drivers void your warranty? I'm mostly interested in the non - Dell video drivers for the 7800 Go. Maybe I'll just try to unlock Coolbits from the std. Nvidia drivers.

I don't want to void my 4 year warranty, but I've heard that overclocking will void your warranty. Is this really true and did some of you get this straight from Dell?

Does it state specifically somewhere from Dell that non - Dell drivers are ok?

I have the E1705 T2500 7800 Go.

you need to make very certain when using drivers not from dell that these video drivers are in fact for the "go" card/mobile graphics card and NOT FOR THE DESKTOP, alot of people mistakenly upgrade their mobile card with a set of desktop card drives, NO WORKY WORKY

There is no problem. You can install and test some other "mobile" driver but the only thing is:

Make a backup from your System to an image.

Thats all.

Shouldn't be a problem

Desktop drivers with a modified .INF (= configuration info) file work just great. I'm running tem on my 9400 troublefree.

I don't think running non-Dell drivers will void your warranty. If you want to run Linux or another non-Windows OS you will probably even *need* non-Dell drivers, and Dell cannot tell you not to run anything but Windows.

In addition damaging your hardware with incorrect drivers doesn't happen that often as far as I know. Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Bottom line, don't worry about it. Just use some common sense when choosing drivers and you'll be fine. You can also read up on other people's experiences on this or other forums.
