Bestest of the Best Software DVD Player (56k warning) - Page 4

Nevermind the previous question DLINKIN. I found that I had moved the folder to a location that my registry didn't recognize. Edited the registry and BINGO, there it was!!

Now the problem appears to be a lack of CPU strength. With the AVIsynth option checked enabling your tweaks, the video slows down to about 15 fps.

I keep a clean machine, defraged and trash free. My CPU is 2000 Mhz and my RAM is 2000 MB.

Perhaps I am missing something. Perhaps I will figure it out again before your reply!

As it stands now, I have come to realize that DVD played through a PC has a long way to go. The normal user might as well stick the DVD in their a$$...

As for platforms, WinDVD is still my choice. But I still am not satisfied with it either.

I am intrigued by the promise of Ffdshow, but DLINKIN is correct about the snow. Further, to tweak MPC and FFshow to get the quality I want, I exceed my CPU's capabilites.

At least at this point...

DLINKIN, is there a way to intigrate Avisynch into WinDVD? My processor prefers WinDVD.

That isn't happening at all.
In Program Files/FFDShow, there is no "application" other than the uninstaller.
No place called "settings", etc.
The whole file only measures 9.95MB.
I tried several times from the link in the beginning of this thread.

Maybe I'm not getting the whole thing?

Ok. I found the Configuration utility. Why this wasn't initially located in the actual program file, as opposed to the Start menu Program list, I dunno.
Anyway, now the fun begins.

Good basic setup guide to get you going here:
http://htpcnews.com/main.php?id=ffdshowdvd_4

Just ignore what it says there regarding TheaterTek DVD and Zoom Player Pro, as these settings work just fine in MPC too.

After using that guide, you may want to try my settings from page 1 of this thread....

Note--don't check "Process whole image" as it wastes CPU in processing the black bars.

Here are my MPC output settings:

If you want to go the Avisynth route (not recommended with the WUXGA and the PM as it does not seem to be able to process the moving image without stuttering) then here is a discussion of interest at AVS forum.

Of special interest is the poster there that has the exact same settings as dlinkin, and the recommendations made in the follow-up posts.

Unfortunately it has to be done in Overlay mode which makes it impossible to get screen shots, believe me I have tried every way I know how.

So I will show you how to do it so you can see it for yourself.

Warning this is not for the typical novice!

I'm sorry that you found this thread to be uninformative and a waste of your time, Mr. Bobo.
Perhaps you should stop wasting so much of your time on this forum.
