Any 15.4 screen laptops that have these specs yet?

Looking for a 15.4" laptop to replace a 17". I can find several that I like, but none that have core duo yet, just wondering if any match this yet, or if they will be out soon, want to buy within the week though..
15.4 wsxga w/brightview glossy screen
Core Duo, or amd equal
at least x700 or go6800 gpu
about 2 to 3 hours of battery life
I can find tons that have the regular pentium m that meet the specs and some, but I would like the core duo for the multi-tasking advantages. Also will game on it.
The only thing I have found is the dell 9400, but its 17" and that one thing I want to get away from, since I travel alot with it. Also I know of the acer 8204, but it has a matte screen, I want/need the glossy screen. Its also out of my price range of 1500 to 1700 hopefully.

i think some asus have the go6800.go onto their website or newegg and look for some.i think acer has more ati gpus like the x700 and the x800 and the x1600.

Probably a dumb question, but my current laptop has a go5700 gpu, is the x700 a nice step up for that or close? Thanks

Yep, the X700 will be significantly more powerful than your 5700.

Acer Travelmate 8204 would fit but it's around $2400.
Dual core Pentium M, X1600 graphics, 2 gb of ram, 120 gig HD, it comes realy loaded which is a problem considering your budget.

The MSI 1029 comes with a Turion and has X700 graphics, you could get one for around $1200~$1300 nicely equiped.

The Acer Aspire 5672 is $1300 after MIR at CompUSA, it's similar to the TM but drops down to X1400 graphics which are sadly slower than the X700 though not by a huge margin.

There are some nice Asus systems that I would suggest checking out as well, ask in the Asus forum for more details.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK there are no 15.4" high resolution glossy screens on the market currently. One option you have is buying a matte screen and having it made glossy. However, ripping out the screen and getting it repolarized will likely blow away your notebook warranty for all manufacturers except maybe Dell.

The upcoming dual core 15.4" Dell 6400 may have the option for a TrueLife (glossy) high res screen, I think it was listed in the leaked excel spreadsheet a month back. But Dell likely won't put anything faster then the X1400.

I have the matte screen now, I like it untill I see the glossy screen, so I don't want to get matte again, I guess I might just stick with a pentium m that has an x700 and glossy high res screen. Something like the DV4000, or sager 5320 possibly?

There are only 2 answers to your Question as of right now.

Samsung X60:
It will have a WSXGA+ 15.4" Screen
X1600 265mb (512 hyper)
1.67 Ghz Yonah
80gb HD @ 5400 rpm
1gb DDR2 @667mhz

But this model has not been relaesed yet... no clue when it will be released.
There are 2 models released
http://www.studentbook.de/x60-t2300.html
the 2nd one is in Korea with a WXGA screen and X1400.
The spec list will have one X60 the specced the way i said above or very similiarly.
The price.. LOL!!!! If you have seen Samsung prices.. well you can just laugh and run! cos no one can afford them... lol, its almost like buying a car.

Your Second choice is this! LG P1 Express Dual, My money is on this BABy!
http://www.cancomputer.com/index.php...3ec1968d6a628b
scroll all the way down for specs.
just for ya'll
The Specs are:
WSXGA+ (maybe) 15.4" (glossy i think)
2.0ghz Yonah
X1600 128mb (prolly mistyped it should be 256mb) - (hypermem 512)
80gb Hd @5400rpm
1gb DDR2 @ 667 (prolly 2x512 modules)

Roughly $2350 Canadian
~ $2000 USD

There is very little info about it, and little info about LG and thier notebooks, LG puts thier laptops in Canada, and few companies will import them from Canada and bring em to USA like NCIX.

There will be a store in Ontario that will hopefully would put one on display and I will definately check out everything about it and determine whether its good or not.

THIS LAPTOP will be released on Feb 21 (tuesday)!!!! on Monday I will call LG, and make sure the specs are correct.

HIgh Hopes for this!!

Thanks,

Yep helps alot, thanks so much for that info, I will look into that LG, specs look nice!
On another not, with dells current deals, I can get a very nicely loaded e1705 abournd 1600, so I might just cave and stay with the 17", I am sure the battery life is better then my zd7000 which is less then an hour most of the time.

The Acer 8204WLMI blows the LG P1 out of the water. Basicly the same specs but SATA hard drive (120 gb) 2GB DDR2 ram. Very good build and quality

If it had the glossy wsxga screen, I would buy it, but it does not correct?

well..... now considering a regular pentium m centrino, that opens up the options alot! Looking mainly at the dv4000, at 1500, it specs out great. Any other in that range that would be better in the long run? I use my laptop everyday, so I need something thats built well, I have faith in HP even though most don't, I have had my zd7000 for going on 2 years, and its still like new!

best 15.4" notebook of 2005 is the almighty ASUS Z70va!!

15.4" WSXGA+ (not glossy) BUT! the screen is the BEST MATTE one you can ever get.
Pentium-M
DDR2 Ram
I forget if it supports sata or not.
Comes with Bluetooth
X700 128mb GPU, roughly 2400 3dmarks05
Carbon Fibre..

Its ba Barbone system and reliable and good resellers like ISTNC, C9tech, Proportable, Geared2play, you can get one for under 1700$ USD with nice specs!!

Anyother laptop in 2005 I would look at the HP DV4000, Sager 5320 and 3880.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Well I was looking hard at the DV4000, just realized that it is just wxga and not wsxga.... This is getting hard. I want wsxga if I get 15.4, and brightview.. not so sure any more.. My zd has the matte screen, looks great, but its so dim compared to every laptop I have seen lately at best buy. Does that asus have a bright matte screen, or is it pretty dim next to brightview?

Are there any 15.4" notebooks with WUXGA, x1600 or equivalent and dual core pentium M? If not, anything on the horizon?
the ASUS Z70va has a beautiful screen, not dull at all.. you can even put it at the lower and lowest settings and you can still read it.. its sooo amamzing!

you should definately check it out!

Remember it was the MOST popular model of 2005 for 15.4" screen.

Expect dell to have WUXGA 15.4" screen with those specs.. but you can wait for Sager too...no clue if either would get it.

Many said that the WUXGA on the SAger 3880 did look good, but the text was too small...the sager 3880 also has an option of the WSXGA+ screen, which everyone loves!

Hope this helps,

Thanks,
