5672 8204 Scroll Button Thingy!?!

Has anyone had any luck getting this thing to work? It works very seldom. I get the little cursor when I use the button or the side of the trackpad, but it doesn't do anything. Is there something I'm supposed to do?

Download the latest Synaptics drivers from here and that will solve your problem. It will also help you if you are experiencing problems with the FireFox browser and not being able to use it to scroll. I installed the newer Synaptic drivers and mine works perfect now. Note: This is not an Acer problem it's a Synaptics problem. I had the same probelm with my M680XL notebook.

Do you mean the 4-way button between the trackpad buttons? I installed the Synaptic drivers, and it stopped working completely... Scrolling with the pad itself works with FireFox now, but the button died...

???

What you need to do is go to control panel - mouse - device settings tab - settings - buttons - highlight change scroll up button then change the settings on the right to scroll the current window up. Do this for the scroll Down, scroll Left and scroll right options obviously changing to the appropriate action. That should do it.

What version of the driver are you all using? Mine says 6.2...

Driver version 7.12.2.0

What headline said. Sorry for the delayed response, I've been playing a little too much BF2. I need to catch up on my reading (posts that is). Glad it's working for you now.

Anyone have a means of making one of the buttons a 'middle button' like firefox? I want to be able to have the RIGHT feature open a new tab when clicked on a URL, i use that all day long

I don't think that there are application specific assignments for the buttons. I use the left and right as forward and back scroll buttons for Firefox.

The new driver helped a lot but my scroll window right and scroll window left still aren't working (yes I enabled the buttons and actions). I uninstalled, cleaned the Registry, and re-installed the new driver but still no joy. Everything else works as expected; any ideas?

This is statement that saved me lots of pain, sweat, anger and tears!

I didn't even think that section was for changing any settings
