Backlit keyboard, 1" thick, MagSafe power connector (don't ask how many power adapters my girlfriend has gone through), slot-load DVD+-RW.

And how do you figure it's that much more expensive? An Acer 8204, very similar in specs is $2300. And it still doesn't have a backlit keyboard. Honestly, that's worth $200 to me.
speak for yourself, kornikova? yea right

a macbook with 8204 specs is 2900.00 thats expensive

backlit keys? pfft i prefer lighted rooms. pale skin = bad

Oh, and chicks > computers any day of the week, so yeah, the comparison is invalid.

In fact it's so nice that I'm actually considering selling my notebook to purchase the macbook.

Sorry for the shameless solicit but in case anyone is interested: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=145114

But how much would it cost for the 8204 to shed over a pound of weight, half an inch thickness and an inch of depth?

Answer is $2900 cuz you have to go buy a MacBook Pro.

Asus doesn't have an answer to the MacBook Pro till the V1J is out. The W3J is close if you're okay with a smaller screen and lower resolution.

Actually, you'd probably have to wait for the V1x (1st Lamborghini Model). The "J" model has a lower graphics card, if I recall correctly.
