Battery Time Left?

Hello All,

I am using a Compaq v2555US (Sempron, 512MB, 40GB, XP Home). When I hover over the batery icon or click on it, I only see the percentage remaining, but Windows doesn't display an estimation of time remaining. Can I change a setting to fix this? Is there something wrong with my battery?

depends on your usage. doesn't show time remaining.

Thanks for the suggestion to grab NHC. I am curious however if anyone elese with a Presario/AMD Sempron notebook is also having an issue with Windows not displaying the "time left" on the battery. I would think there must be some setting in Windows to change that?

i think only intel centrino's tell time remaining, my brothers turion just says precentage on his HP lance armstrong edt lappy

i believe that to be the case anyway

but yeah there are 3rd party progies that will tell you est time left

I've read its something in the bios that HP disabled and doesn't allow it to be toggled on and off.

P.S. Thanks for the link, Tommi. That's the first free one that I've seen that doesn't require user input on the expected battery life or that has to 'learn' battery life.

HP laptop with Centrino does not show time remaining either. I use NHC in my DV4000 for that.

My compaq R4000 doesnt show the time remaining.

But the acer 5000 and 3000 do.

My work Gateway 450 is the only lappy I've had that shows the time, I think it is something to do with what bios tha manufacturer uses.

I have a HP ZD7000 p4 laptop and it DOES show time left, and trust me its never much! lol

Then your battery probably doesn't support charge status displaying or something as weird.
