Are there any RPGs like Final Fantasy for the PC. Im not talking about the RPGs like Warcraft, and Guild Wars. The ones with a story etc. Thanks.

Morrowind - The Elder Scrolls and upcoming Morrowind Oblivion

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has got to be one of the best single player RPGs I've played in a while.

If you don't mind older games, Fallout and Fallout 2 are also great.

Fable was released a few months ago, and I heard that got good reviews, as did Dungeon Siege II.

Yea.. I wish they would bring back classic RPG games style like the old Final Fantasy series to the PC. Nowadays.. most RPGs are the massive multi-player ones, which are ok, but I've always prefered the single player story driven RPGs. Another great example of this is Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana... classic Squaresoft games.

final fantasy is awsome! i luved ff7, ff8 was great too
i played d2, guildwars, but they were more of a "trading/pvp/community" based rpgs, i didn't care bout the story, well i did for da first 3 months of playing then the next like 2-3 years of D2 were about the items

I'm playing Fable: The Lost Chapters right now for the PC and I must say its pretty darn good. I have Neverwinter Nights as well (although its a bit old), but that game was good. If you haven't played Knights of the Old Republic yet then you should start with that one.

I'd recommend snagging knights of the old republic one. Was game of the year when it came out and you can snag it cheap now, not to mention that just about everyone gets the hots for Bastilla (^_^)

I'm currently playing grandia II for the Pc... it's buggy as hell but somehow i got it to work.

if you like japanese rpgs (like final fantasy) then why not get a Playstation emulator and play some PSX rpgs. Grandia 1 is a game that had an awesome story, and IMO in alot of ways was better than ff7 (although that one still holds a special place in my "favorites" list)

all time fave though: chrono trigger. and now I have 2 versions of it on my laptop (PSX, and snes emu)

I used to love playing Nobunga Ambition or Romance of 3 Kingdom. Both from KOEI...

Sadly they stop making more of it.

Old style games like ff7 and diablo are amazing. The story to ff7 had so much depth and diablo was just additive as hell. I dont game much anymore but i would like to find a good game to get into. I wish blizzard would get a diablo 3 out and starcraft 2 for that matter

Recently, I've been into Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate II. FF7 is pretty awesome also.

Not trying to flame, but I would disagree with the posters here that Diablo II is an RPG. You don't actually have any chance of role-playing in it. It's just a hack-n-slash game being held together by a thin storyline. Addictive as hell, though .

Star Wars Kotor is nice, Kotor 2 ok (just crashed out on me again! Neverwinter Nights & Fable are good, Dungeon Siege II is so-so.

I agree with a lot of the suggestions in this thread too! Morrowind is still a major favorite of mine. I play it all the time. NWN, Baldurs Gate, KOTOR 1&2, and Dungen Siege are all nice I recently picked up fable and I fear it may become an addiction.

Reading this thread made me all nostalgic and fire up the old Super Nintendo... gonna play some FFVI.

Oh yea, Chrono Trigger ROCKS!!!

Okay, I loved KOTOR, and Neverwinter Nights was quite good too..

My suggestion is a little out there, though: Planescape Torment.

Still, I can't really recommend it to every one:
1. it's a 1999 title--so the graphics are dated, and some ppl are just turned off by that
2. it is one depressing-as-hell story too, and very morbid..

Still, I found it a great play. You can read reviews a all the major game sites--i.e. Gamespot, Firing Squad, etc.

(even listed under the greatest games of all time)

there are a lot of old ones that are still quite playable and extremely good, like Fallout 1&2, Planescape: Torment (of course, these don't really resemble final fantasy games) and while I haven't played it, Morrowind was an incredible hit and the next installment, Oblivion, is supposed to arrive in a month or two.

I have been playing Final Fantasy 9 a lot recently. You can get emulators for your computer and play playstation games on it.

By the way, to everyone that has played and likes Final Fantasy 7, I urge you to play FInal Fantasy 9. FF7 was my favorite game, until I played FF9.
