I have a Sager 5690 and when I play an online game, every once in awhile, the frame rate drops so that the game runs incredibly slow (like lag), and then after 1.5 to 2 minutes, the game returns to normal instantaneously and lag free.

I am running the original Bios version (Bios Revision: D500E 1.00.07S, KBC/EC Fireware Revision: 1.00.U1) that came with my Sager. My video driver is ATI 9700 radeon 6.14.10.6436. I have 1 Gig of ram. I play wireless.

One possibly related note is that I have noticed that when the 2 minute "lag" starts, the fan on my power brick immediately stops. And when it smooths out, the power brick fan immediately fires back up. I have purchased a new power brick but still have the same symptons.

Do you think it's because my Bios is so old? I am very reluctant to update my Bios in fear of my system not working (I had that problem several years ago, the only time I've ever tried to flash a bios). Also, if I flash the bios, do I need to format my hard drive and reinstall everything?
