last year jan 05 ,i bought my first laptop ever and p4 3.2ghz hyperthreading 2gb ram, 60gb x7200 HD ,ati 9700 128mb and i thought it would be top of line for at least 1 year....now as i read through here seeing some laptops makes me so jealous, especially those with the 256mb 7800gtx cards, i mean whats in store for next year ,a 512 or 1gb gpu

i paid $2k for mine ,just curious if i were to sell what is my laptop worth

Without a doubt, you'd get more than $300 on eBay.... Brand makes a difference in what you can get, more details.

Next year? Dual Core GPUs... I could see that by the end of 2007.

Now you know why waiting for 64 bit makes sense - there are many factors that lead to a longer lasting notebook. Remember, of course, that notebooks always start out some speed behind as it is, so getting the longest lasting features is important.

If only that 9700 was upgradeable, the 3.2 isn't a bad chip even by today's standards.

1 Sager NP4791 SUPRA - $2,190
17" WXGA+ (1440x900) TFT Active Matrix w/ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 w/128MB DDR

2,048MB (2 SODIMMS) PC3200 DDR400 Memory

Combo 8X DVD+/-R/RW/CD-RW (2.4x DVD+R DL)

ps..also has built in webcam, 4spkrs+subwoofer, full keyboard w/numeric

found this in my email when i purchased it ... so with that above what would that go for $$

now after that estimate how much does it depriciate in value for 1 dead pixel in the top left corner near the side , not so distracting since its near side

is $1200 far fetched

Why would you want to sell it? My 4780 works like a charm for over 2 yrs now and I plan on using it for at least 2 more. By the time i'm done with it the new windows os as well as directx10 should be around.

you can find a very nice config for around 2,500.look at the sager 5720 and the dell xps 170 and the one that i am ordering soon, the hypersonic cx7.

mate get a grip on it - whatever you buy this days is "old" within 6mth at the top!!! nice if you bought sth you can upgrade to a point (cost money too) - otherwise you need to get an idea what you REALLY need! Sure would be nice just to get rid of them, as new ones come out - dont know if you can afford that. i cant . So they have to do as long as they can do the job - and for me its a biz, not gaming - and then they are written off anyway and get replaced.
if you need newest, hottest on the market - you need to get a job that pays for it , or try to convince your parents to buy it for you LOL.

i might consider $600.50 - my daughter needs a lappy. j/k (just kidding), computers devaluate so fast, if it does what you need it for - keep it!

I kept an eye on Ebay, figured what I would be willing to let it go for and set that as the reserve. I was selling one of those overhyped alien products but even so it was outdated in my opinion. I got about half of what I originally paied for it over two years ago. Not sure how the Sagers do but it's worth a try if you really need an upgrade.

My New Sager was just over 2k and I'm very happy with it's ability to run the latest games. My old laptop was not keeping up anymore.

Hey 4791! I purchased a 4780 (Yes mine is still running) and less than 1 month later the 4791 was released and the 4780 was discontinued. Now I have a 5710 and the 4780 so life is good.
It seems the best way to keep from getting a outdated laptop is keep it a year..sell it for top dollar on ebay..then add the difference toward a new one...Im debating this myself..as much as i like the 9880..im thinking i want soemthing not so big and bulky anymore..
I still <3 my 8790 and it loves me.

...or so heat sensitive and troublesome. I am thinking of trading mine for a good desktop. Mobility, schmobility...I miss my old dell pII that lasted me for almost 10 yrs w/o single problem. Wonder how Dell is nowadays in term of quality.

ps: yeah, I am still bitter about that $750 mobo replacement just a few days after my 1-yr warranty expired
