Got new Dell 3007wfp and it rawks - Page 2

Sounds like Hexus are a little confused here - with a DVI connection, the graphics card must do the scaling, that's partially the point with DVI is that it's all configured from the videocard. If you look at the 2005fpw which has analogue and DVI inputs, if you use the analogue connection then you can change the scaling options on the monitor itself. However, if you use the DVI connection, those options on the monitor are greyed out as it must be the graphics card must set it.

If you look at DB's first pic, that's clearly running at a lower resolution and it's being stretched to fit, I don't know for sure but I would think that's the default behaviour.

I do know their is default resolutions built in the high res and then 1280x800. If you do not have a dual link plug it defaults to 1280x800 at full screen, which is DB's case. I was hoping to talk to soeone that actually hat this thing set up right and could test games at a res of like 1440x900 or some odd WS res to see if it goes full screen or has the black boirders etc. Thanks for your help in helping me decipher this, Johnmcl7...

I've been reading here:

http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthre...8&page=3&pp=15

"I just tested all those rezzies, and they work, along with a dozen or so up and down.

However, the monitor only really looks excellent when running 1280x800 or 2560x1600.

So, why they DO work, I probably won't be using them for anything."

He doesn't say if it stretches or not but i'd assume it must otherwise the resolutions would look quite small.

Dell has only purchased 30" LG panels so far. Samsung has a lower latency panel (8ms compared to LG 11ms) and expects Dell to take shipments from both LG and Samsung once orders for the 3007FPW increase.

That is an almost verbatim quote from the Digitimes article on the 3007FPW release day. I can't pull it up or link to it anymore as I'm no longer subscribed.

You suck... that's all there is too it!!!

<-- Got a 2405FPW on a dell mess up back in 11-05 for ~$400

Still loving my 2405, I'd never let go.

It brings my poor little 7800GTX 512mb to its knees at 1920x1200, I couldn't imagine having to run higher.

Nice DB! Tell us how it proforms when you can hook up dual DVI on your desktop! With 1GB of VRAM, you should be seeing some decent FPS at that resolution, but the core may take a punch from the extra work needed to do.
