For all those wondering, Smooth Creations Estimates

Hi, I recently contacted smooth creations and asked them for an estimate on a paint job through them directly. I know a number of you were also curious so here is the info !

This is for a solid color on a CX7...so other lappies should be the same...

Lid: $150

Entire Laptop: $300

There ya go!

thanx oh yeah and why would some one just want the lid painted.if you buy a lappy through hypersonic and they directly send it to smooth then its only 200 not 300

From what ive heard, the Sager 5720, the model that the CX7 is, happens to be a pain to paint. In the process of painting and removing the case it damages the touch pad, therefore the painters are forced to replace, which gives companies like hypersonic-pc a head ache everytime they have to do one for a customer. Pretty much that is why they were only offering lids for a while, but obviously most customers want their entire PC painted, which then the problem occurs which i just mentioned. So you'll have to see what happens, from what i've heard PCTorque is also working on getting paint jobs started very soon. They are looking at a private painter, but rumor has it Sager is working out a deal with Smooth Creations! So we'll see what is in the future!

Hype never said they painted. It is quit clear they send all their painting to SM.

If what you are saying is correct then Sager and PC Torque will run into the same problem. The problem is with SM. And I can agree with them if painting this model is costing them more than its worth, then stop painting them. From a business stand point I agree.

If the problem is traced to Clevo then get on them to get a better touchpad.
Clevo is no doubt being updated from the resellers as to this problem. So hopefully its only a matter of time before its corrected.

that would probably explaing why the voodoo counterpart pictures have painted touch pads

I have heard a lot of the same information that is being mentioned above as well. True - everyone wants their entire system to be painted, however, the risks and time associated could effect that desire.

I am just going to get the lid painted. That's ok with me because the system is actually stylish (in my eyes) compared to the bulky systems I had with the EX7 and GX7. I loved them - but they were so blah... so the paint gave them character. The slim style of the CX7 is great and adding color to the lid just adds that much more.

Good info on the paint jobs. I believe they were similar to what Hyper was listing.

Yang88She... not sure how much of a down time there is, but I would assume probably a week. May be overkill, but there is obviously curing that has to be done. But smooth would be the best place to get that answer, unless it has already been found.

hey kitty are you just getting the lid painted or the whole thing ?
I am getting the whole notebook painted in sapphire metallic black and the lid painted with the picture I had posted earlier. As far as the text.... I am still trying to decide on what to get. I know I want to get it in that orangish color that is in the picture and in a gothic type font.
I will have to do some searching tonight!

Do they allow custom drawing that we give to them, or do we have to pick from their selection of paint jobs?

Look in my sig and click on the "smoothly created" link.
You can send them anything you want to and they will do it. It just has to be a certain resolution.
I am very very happy with mine. And my fiance is going to start planning out what he wants his to be like!
