Any other 1400x900 screens other than Samsung and LG?

I've gone through my third Samsung screen now, and I just can't handle the light leakage. I know what you're going to say, and no, I'm not just too picky.

So it looks like I either have to put up with light leakage or sparkles, is that it?

I know Sharp makes a 1900x1200 LCD for the 9300, but do they make a 1440x900 one too? If there are any screens other than Samsung and LG, could you give me the part number?

Oh, and will the part numbers be the same between Dell US and Dell Canada?

Thanks

Why not just get the 1920x1200?

Honestly? My eyes aren't good enough. It'd kill me, the amount of text I look at in a day. I must have a decent 1440x900

You can change the resolution to 1440x900.

Yeah, but if it's not native resolution it's not going to look as good though, is it?

I appreciate the suggestions though, thank you.

Anyone else know if there's a 1440x900 screen made by someone other than Samsung or LG?

Well, the aspec ratio is the same.

1440x900 and 1920x1200 is both 1:6

So adjusting the 1920x1200 to 1440x900 would be the same as having a 1440x900 LCD.

Here, let me revert mine to 1440x900 and compare.

1920x1200

1440x900

I just took a screenshot of my desktop at 1920x900, then changed it to 1440x900 and took another screenshot.

I had the same problem with the 1920x1200 res so I changed it to 1440x900 and like it MUCH better. It looks as sharp as the 1920x1200 res to me.

Mine looks fine at 1920x1200, wouldn't have it any other way.

You are right about this. No TFT is unfortunately going to look good (at least at the present moment) in any other than their native resolution. Many times the downscaling is okayish for games, but I definately won't recommend that for desktop use.

ha ha ha ha . The problem is at 1440x900 on a 1920x1200 screen it has to be stretched to fit screen. This fuzzes the picture a little. Weather you're eyes see that is subjective to each individual .

Those 1440 pixels are being stretched over 1920 on the horizontal and 900 over 1200 on the vertical - things look a little fuzzy (although modern screens do a much better job than what used to be the case).

Taking a screenshot doesn't count because that takes a picture of what is being put into the screen, not whats coming out of it (so to speak).

Yeah, I don't think getting the higher res screen and just lower the resolution would work for me. The fuzziness would bug me, probably more than the light leakage.

I've never had an LG screen though...is it possible to get one of those with little/no sparkles? I wonder if I'd be able to tolerate the sparkles easier than the light leakage...

most programs (well.. depending on what you do) allow you to change font sizes.. Firefox has the minimum font size feature, just as an example.. the only text outside of games i read is in a firefox window and i have the min font set to like 16.. some sites get confused, but they are few and far between.. I have windows fonts set to extra large so that helps some with desktop icons and the taskbar and whatnot
