I bought a Inspiron 1300 from Dell Canada.
The configuration is;
1.4 GHz Celeron M
512 Shared Ram
40 GB 5400 Rpm Hard Drive with 8 MB Cache
6 Cell Battery
DVD burner
Dell 1370 Wlan card
15.4" WXGA screen
The Monitor.
It doesn't have that shine a New Calibrated CRT monitor has.
It's Bright enough though, no complaints about that.
I've calibrated the LCD RGB to make it brighter though.
No cosmetic errors on the screen.
And DVD's look nice on it.
The speakers.
It sounds like $ 15.00 Speakers.
No bass whatsoever, and very tinny.
The headphones don't have very good bass either, but sounds better than the speakers.
The keyboard.
I don't like the flat surface of notebook keyboards.
It's like typing on Smarties candy, or M&M's.
Nice size though.
Wireless Internet.
Very fast. Nice.
I can't comment on the battery, or the dvd burner yet.
It does what is expected of it. And I'm happy with it. No real complaints.
Compared to a CRT desktop PC with Subwoofer speakers and 100 % functional.
I rate this Notebook 3 out of 5. Or Average.
